The Zombie counterparts are a series of Zombie monsters, identified by having an existing non-Zombie-Type counterpart.
This Archetype were released in the OCG and TCG in Crossroads of Chaos and Structure Deck 15: Zombie World
Zombie counterparts have no external support, but are highly playable and powerful, particularly "Archfiend Zombie-Skull".
Zombie counterparts usually have effects similar to their counterparts, but worked to go with the theme of manipulating Zombie monsters you own or control, typically either summoning them, sending them to the Graveyard, or removing them from play out of the Graveyard to trigger effects.
A typical theme of Zombie Counterparts is that they would possess no DEF whatsoever. This could be a reference to Zombie Movies, where Zombies could be put down with a single, well placed bullet to the head. It could also be a reference to when the Zombies first appeared in the anime: The Zombies under Bonez's control had no def, in exchange for their incredible attack power and revival ability. If they were killed when having no ATK (such as through Shield and Sword), they would be permanently killed.
[edit] Disputed Cards
There is some debate whether "Dragon Zombie", "Clown Zombie", "Armored Zombie" and "Des Lacooda" should be included in the categorization of this Archetype. They are clearly counterparts of "Crawling Dragon", "Crass Clown", "Zanki" and "3-Hump Lacooda". "Exodia Necross" is also considered by some to be a zombie, or at least an Undead, version of Exodia.
