During the Seven Stars arc, Zane plays a "Cyber Dragon" Deck, consisting of mechanical versions of mythical creatures. This Deck represented Yang, the bright and active force in the universe. Zane was an expert at combining his "Cyber Dragons" into their Fusion forms, "Cyber Twin Dragon", "Cyber End Dragon" and "Chimeratech Overdragon" and could consistently strengthen them to very high ATK with "Power Bond" and "Limiter Removal".

During Sheppard's flashback in episode 83, it is revealed that Zane even used this Deck in his childhood. The cards shown to be part of it were "Polymerization", three "Cyber Dragons", "Power Bond" and "Cyber End Dragon".

After visiting Sheppard in the mountains, Zane takes the "Cyberdark" Deck. It was also known as the Cyber Style Tails Deck ("Underworld Deck" in the dub). It represented the dark and passive Yin, that was sealed away in his former teacher's dojo. He combined cards from both Decks into a single Deck, but continued to disrespect his "Cyber Dragons", throwing away all related cards into his Graveyard to strengthen his new servants.

In the Dimension World arc, Zane makes uses of his "Cyber Dragons" in combination with his "Cyberdarks", but values them more than he did in season 2. He uses this Deck in his quest to find a final opponent to give him one last great Duel.

Makoto Inotsume 163 No result

In the Darkness arc, Zane is revived, but is restricted to a wheelchair due to his heart condition. Despite this, he accepts a Duel request from Psycho Style Duelist Makoto Inotsume. He collapses midway through the Duel. Syrus takes up the Deck and Duels Inotsume himself, combining the Deck with his own. Zane allows him to keep the Deck afterward, knowing that Syrus would respect and grow with the Deck rather then disrespect it, which would suppress the power of the "Cyberdarks".

MangaEdit

Record
Opponent(s) Chapter(s) Outcome(s)
Chazz Princeton 38-39 Win

In the manga, many of his cards are named after stars, particularly those in the constellation Draco. In this continuity, Zane utilizes a far more defensive strategy than his anime counterpart. He bides his time with cards such as "Cyber Larva" while gathering the components for a winning move.
