Cultural references
Edit
- Yami Yugi's line at the beginning, "I used to be a duelist like you but then I took a card game to the motorcycle", is based on the famous meme from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow to the knee".
- The opening cards are five of the incarnations of The Doctor from Doctor Who, William Hartnell,Tom Baker, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith.
- The opening theme is replaced by the Dragon Ball Z abridged theme, "Cha-la Head Cha-la", with Marik singing instead.
- While switching to Yami, Yugi references the Old Spice advertisements featuring Isaiah Mustafa.
- The speech in the "Singapore dub" is in imitation of Michelangelo from the 1980s/1990s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.
- Kaiba wonders whether the footage of Noah's past is a snuff film.
- Téa teases Yami with info about the newest book in the Twilight series (also read by Yugi, as revealed in Episode 32).
- The credit clip is from the June 7, 1999 episode of WWF Raw is War. Vince McMahon is revealed to be the Higher Power of the Ministry, taunting Stone Cold Steve Austin, while Jim Ross curses.
- The Big 5 are sent to Megaupload, The Dangerous Box, Chatroulette, Fanfiction.net, and 4chan.
