• The opening begins like it's an episode of Dragon Ball Z Abridged, then is interrupted by Yami Yugi, a la Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift during her MTV VMA acceptance speech.
• The robot fighting scenes during Kaiba's conversation with the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past come from Casshern.
• The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past mentions Christian Bale and Bryce Dallas Howard, a nod to Terminator Salvation. The Ghost itself is from Adult Swim's Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
• Kaiba makes a reference to CSI: Miami at the end, when he remarks "Looks like the rules... just got screwed."
