In a dark cave, four mysterious strangers had a secret meeting. They were all commenting on how they’ve waited a long time for “the boss,” and that once “the plan” is put into action, nothing will stop the Dark Scorpions. Meanwhile, a mysterious man with a golden eye patch was approaching the island of Duel Academy by boat.

Alexis was watching her brother, Atticus, who was out of the hospital bed, but he hasn’t regained his memories of what happened to him. Jaden, Syrus, Chazz, and Banner came to talk with her, along with the guy from the boat. He was a detective named Zaloog. Banner had called him to the school because he believed the police could help them with their situation of the shadow Riders and the Spirit Keys. Zaloog suggested they each hide their keys in a personal place, in case a Shadow Rider would capture them. Chazz hid his key in a desk drawer, and they got worried when Gorg the janitor almost saw them hide it. Jaden hid his key in his own desk drawer, and was almost seen by C.K., a new transfer student who couldn’t find his room. Alexis hid her key in a jewelry box, and was almost seen by the school nurse. Finally, Banner his key in a safe, and was almost seen by Cliff, the security guard. That night, while everyone was resting, all of the keys were stolen from their hiding places. Deep underground, the thieves tried to use the keys to unlock the Spirit Gate and get the Sacred Beast cards, but they wouldn’t work. The thieves decided they were going to need the help of Jaden and his friends to figure out how to use them.

Meanwhile, Chazz got woken up by Jaden and Syrus, who told him that the keys were stolen. Someone had kicked down the door of Chazz's and stole his key. They gathered up the Key Keeper’s in Chazz's room, along with detective Zaloog, who gathered up some possible suspects, C.K., the school nurse, Gorg the janitor, and Cliff the security guard. Chazz decided to do his own detective work and came to the conclusion that they all did it. He knew because whenever they hid a key, he also hid one of his Ojama cards with it. The Ojama Brothers acted as Chazz's spies and knew they did it. Zaloog, C.K., the school nurse, Gorg, and Cliff were actually members of a secret group called the Dark Scorpions. They’ve been undercover at the school for a long time and the leader, Don Zaloog, was also the 4th Shadow Rider. Chazz said they have to duel him before the keys can work and they moved outside to prepare.

Don Zaloog: summoned Golem Sentry (800/1800) in Defense mode and placed one card face down. Chazz: played the Spell card, Fiend’s Sanctuary, which let him summon a Metal Fiend Token (0/0). He then sacrificed the token to summon Armed Dragon Level 5 (2400), which destroyed Golem Sentry. He also placed two cards face down and used his Dragon’s special ability. On the turn it wins a battle, Chazz can sacrifice it to summoned Armed Dragon Level 7 (2800). Don Zaloog: played Pot of Greed, to draw two cards, and then summoned himself (1400), for he and the others were also duel spirits, to the field. He then played the Spell card, Mustering of The Dark Scorpions, which let him summon the other Dark Scorpion members in his hand, Gorg the Strong (1800), Meanae the Thorn (1000), Cliff the Trap Remover (1200), and Chick the Yellow (1000). Don Zaloog also played his face down trap, Dark Scorpion Combination, which allowed all of the Dark Scorpions to attack Chazz directly, and then, he takes 400 damage for each attack. Afterwards their special abilities activated. Gorg’s made Armed Dragon return to the top of Chazz's deck, Chick’s returned one face down card from his field, Cliff’s made Chazz send the top two cards in his deck to the graveyard, Zaloog’s destroyed one card in his hand, and Meanae’s returned one card with Dark Scorpion in its name to Zaloog’s hand, Dark Scorpion Combination. Chazz used his trap card, Level Modulation, which made Zaloog draw two cards and Chazz got to summon back Armed Dragon Level 7. Zaloog ended his turn with two face down cards. Chazz (2000 LP): used his Dragon’s special ability, which allowed to discard a monster and then all monsters on his opponent's side with less or equal Attack as the discarded monster are destroyed. Zaloog countered with his trap card, Retreat of the Dark Scorpions, which returned all of the Dark Scorpions to his hand, so Chazz just attacked directly. Don Zaloog (1200 LP): summoned himself to the field and played Mustering of the Dark Scorpions, but Chazz used his trap card, Ojama Trio. It summons Ojama Tokens (0/0) to Zaloog’s field and he’ll take 300 damage if any one of the tokens is destroyed. Zaloog still summoned himself and Meanae to the field and played the magic card, Dark Scorpion Tragedy of Love, which allowed him to destroy all of Chazz’s monsters after sacrificing Meanae. He also attacked Chazz directly, which forced him to discard the one card in his hand, Ojamagic. When that’s discarded, Chazz can bring the Ojama Brothers to his hand. Chazz (600 LP): played Pot of Greed, to draw two cards, and then played Polymerization to fuse Ojama Black, Ojama Green, and Ojama Yellow to summon Ojama King (0/3000). He also played the magic card, Ojamuscle, which destroyed all other Ojama monsters on the field and Ojama King gets 1000 attack points for every one destroyed. Plus, since the Ojama Tokens were destroyed, Zaloog lost 900 life points (300 LP). Ojama King (3000) attacked Zaloog and Chazz won the duel.

The Dark Scorpions had vanished and Zaloog left behind his eye patch. It was a Shadow Charm that had turned them into their human state, but now they were back to being duel spirits. The Spirit Keys were back in a safe place, but Chazz had to deal with the noise of the Dark Scorpion spirits hanging out in his room.

Don's Turn

• Summons Golem Sentry (800/1800) in Defense Position and sets a card

Chazz's Turn

• Activates Fiend's Sanctuary. Now he can summon a Metal Fiend Token (0/0) in Attack Position.
• Tributes his newly summoned Token to summon his Armed Dragon LV5 (2400/1700), also in Attack Position
• Destroys Golem Sentry with Armed Dragon LV5, and then sets 2 cards
• Since his Armed Dragon LV5 destroyed a monster Zaloog controlled in battle, its effect activates during Chazz's End Phase, evolving to Armed Dragon LV7 (2800/1000) in Attack Position.

Don's Turn

• Activates Pot of Greed and draws 2 cards from his Deck.
• Summons Don Zaloog (himself) (1400/1500) in Attack Position and steps onto the field. (NOTE: This is one of the many instances where a Duel Monster Spirit has summoned itself and participated in the Duel as itself.)
• Since he is now an active monster on the field, he can activate Mustering of the Dark Scorpions, which can only be activated in his presence. Now he can summon, from his hand, 1 each of "Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow" (1000/1000), "Dark Scorpion - Meanae the Thorn" (1000/1800), "Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong" (1800/1500), and "Cliff the Trap Remover" (1200/1000) in Attack Position—but he cannot summon any duplicate of one of those monsters.
• With all 5 of the Dark Scorpions present on the field, Don can activate Dark Scorpion Combination. Now all 5 of the Dark Scorpions can attack Chazz directly, and Chazz takes 400 points of damage from each of them (Chazz: 2000 LP)
• Now all 5 of the Dark Scorpions' effects activate: "Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong" returns Armed Dragon LV7 to the top of Chazz's Deck; "Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow" returns 1 Set card from the field to Chazz's hand; "Cliff the Trap Remover" sends the top 2 cards on Chazz's Deck to the Graveyard; Don Zaloog forces Chazz to discard 1 card from his hand; and finally, "Dark Scorpion - Meanae the Thorn" lets Don retrieve a card with "Dark Scorpion" in its name from his Graveyard and add it back to his hand. Don chooses to retrieve "Dark Scorpion Combination"
• However, with Armed Dragon LV7 now in his Graveyard, Chazz can activate his Level Modulation Trap (NOTE: the real card is a Normal Spell Card), which allows Don to draw 2 cards, and, in exchange, Chazz can re-summon a LV Monster from his Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning Conditions. He re-summons his Armed Dragon LV7 (2800/1000) in Attack Position
• Don sets 2 cards

Chazz's Turn

• Activates Armed Dragon LV7's effect: By sending a monster from his hand to his Graveyard, all face-up monsters Don controls will be destroyed if their ATK are equal to or weaker than that of the sent monster. He chooses Despair from the Dark (ATK: 2800) to destroy all of Don's weaker monsters.
• However, Don activates his face-down card, Dark Scorpion Retreat, which returns all monsters he controls to his hand before Armed Dragon LV7's effect has a chance to activate. (NOTE: The Dark Scorpions leave the field due to "Dark Scorpion Retreat", but in reality, they would return to the player's hand)
• Having missed the timing to use its effect, Chazz attacks Don directly with Armed Dragon LV7 (Don: 1200 LP) and sets a card

Don's Turn

• Summons Don Zaloog (1400/1500) in Attack Position and steps back onto the field.
• Since he is again an active monster on the field, he can activate another "Mustering of the Dark Scorpions", and attempts to re-summon, from his hand, 1 each of "Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow" (1000/1000), "Dark Scorpion - Meanae the Thorn" (1000/1800), "Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong" (1800/1500), and "Cliff the Trap Remover" (1200/1000).
• However, Chazz activates his face-down card: Ojama Trio, which allows him to summon 3 Ojama Tokens (0/1000 each) to Don's side of the field, and prevent the Dark Scorpions from being summoned. Furthermore, if any of the Tokens are destroyed, Don will lose 300 Life Points per monster destroyed. With "Mustering of the Dark Scorpions" now rendered useless, Don can only summon Meanae the Thorn (1000/1800) in Attack Position.
• Since Meanae is on the field, Don can activate Dark Scorpion - Tragedy of Love, which lets him send Meanae to his Graveyard, allowing Don to destroy all monsters Chazz controls. As Meanae leaves the field, Chazz's Armed Dragon LV7 is destroyed, leaving Chazz wide open for a Direct Attack from Don. (Chazz: 600 LP)
• Since Don dealt Chazz Battle Damage, Chazz must discard 1 card from his hand, but the card he discarded was Ojamagic, which lets him add "Ojama Green", "Ojama Black", and "Ojama Yellow" from his Deck to his hand.

Chazz's Turn

• Activates Pot of Greed and draws 2 cards.
• Activates Polymerization, which enables the 3 Ojamas to fuse into Ojama King (0/3000) in Attack Position.
• With Ojama King on the field, Chazz can activate Ojamuscle, which destroys all "Ojama" monsters on the field and gives Ojama King 1000 ATK per monster destroyed. The Ojama Tokens from "Ojama Trio" are destroyed, and while Don loses 900 LP, Ojama King's ATK becomes 3000. (Don: 300 LP)
• Chazz attacks Don directly with Ojama King (Don: 0 LP) and wins the Duel.
