Mirror, Mirror, Part 1, known as The Strongest Tag!? Judai and Edo (First Part) in the Japanese version, is the seventy-eighth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
After learning that Syrus Truesdale and Tyranno Hassleberry are trapped in a virtual universe, Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix enter that world themselves and confront Sarina, who, acting under the orders of Sartorius, challenges the twosome to a Duel, in an attempt to discover who is the true Chosen Duelist that her brother must defeat.

After making their way to Kaiba Land and the Virtual World Facility within, Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix are suddenly transported onto a digital plane, where they are reunited with Hassleberry (who has taken the form of a bandanna-wearing dinosaur) and Syrus (in the form of a "Vehicroid" resembling a Volkswagen Beetle), and also discover that the members of the Light Brigade are trapped here.
Then, Sarina appears, explaining that she is acting under the orders of her brother, Sartorius, who wishes to discover the identity of the destined Duelist who is to be his final opponent, and Sarina is to Duel either Jaden or Aster to find the answer, but if Sarina's opponent loses, he must join Sartorius and the Society of Light. Jaden accepts the challenge, but convinces Sarina into a Tag-Team Duel. Sarina agrees, and splits herself in two for the face-off against Jaden and Aster. Aster is reluctant to accept, but decides that he must win to learn the truth about the death ("disappearance" in the English dub) of his father and the fate of an "Ultimate Destiny Hero" monster.
The Duel begins, and the Sarinas take an early advantage in the Duel, due to the fact that Aster refuses to cooperate with Jaden, while Jaden's moves are more about luck than strategy. Furthermore, the full moon behind Sarina's "Full Moon Mirror" seems to wane into a new moon with every monster that is destroyed, and once "Full Moon Mirror" gains its tenth Full Moon Counter, Sarina declares that the true test has now begun.

Turn 1: Sarina 1
- Summons "Silver Spirit - Ukyo" (800/600) in Attack Position.
- Sets a card
- Activates "Full Moon Mirror": When a monster on the field is destroyed (either by battle or by a card effect), a Full Moon Counter will be placed for each monster destroyed. If "Full Moon Mirror" remains on the field, and 10 Full Moon Counters are placed on the card, the Sarinas can activate "Infinite Fiend Summoning Mirrors".
Turn 2: Jaden
- Summons "Elemental Hero Avian" (1000/1000) in Defense Position.
- Sets a card
Turn 3: Sarina 2
- Summons "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" (600/800).
- Sets a card
Turn 4: Aster
- Summons "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious" (800/800) in Attack Position.
- Sets a card
Turn 5: Sarina 1
- Activates "Mirror Route", targeting "Silver Spirit - Ukyo". As such, her monster can now attack the opponents directly, and it targets Jaden (Jaden and Aster: 8000 → 7200 LP).
Turn 6: Jaden
- Activates "Polymerization", sending to the Graveyard Elemental Heroes "Burstinatrix" (from his hand) and "Avian" (from the field) to Fusion Summon "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" (2100/1200) in Attack Position.
- "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" attacks "Ukyo".
- Sarina 2 activates "Mirror Bind", which destroys all monsters Jaden and Aster control with 2100 or less ATK. This includes "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" and "Destiny Hero - Captain Tenacious".
- "Full Moon Mirror" gains 2 Full Moon Counters. It now has a total of 2.
- Jaden activates "Elemental Mirage", which Special Summons "Flame Wingman" (2100/1200) from the Graveyard, since it was destroyed by a card effect.[Notes 1]
- Aster activates "Destiny Mirage", Special Summoning "Captain Tenacious" (800/800) from the Graveyard, since it was destroyed by a card effect.
- "Flame Wingman" attacks "Ukyo" again.
- Sarina 1 activates "Mirror Trap", which allows her to activate Sarina 2's "Mirror Bind" from the Graveyard. Again, "Flame Wingman" and "Captain Tenacious" are destroyed.
- "Full Moon Mirror" gains 2 Full Moon Counters. It now has a total of 4.
Turn 7: Sarina 2
- "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" attacks Aster directly (Jaden and Aster: 7200 → 6600 LP).
- Activates "Mirror Call": Since she controls "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" and "Silver Spirit - Ukyo", she can add 1 Trap Card from her Graveyard to her hand. She chooses "Mirror Bind".
- Sets 2 cards
Turn 8: Aster
- Summons "Destiny Hero - Doom Lord" (600/800) in Attack Position.
- Uses "Doom Lord's" effect to banish "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" for 2 turns.
- Sarina 1 activates "Silver Spirit Redirection": "Doom Lord" is banished instead and its effect is negated, since it targeted 1 monster she controlled.
- Activates "D - Spirit": Since he controls no monsters, he can Special Summon a "Destiny Hero" monster from his hand, Level 4 or below. He chooses "Destiny Hero - Fear Monger" (1000/1000)
- "Fear Monger" attacks "Silver Spirit - Sakyo", while Aster discards "Destiny Hero - Blade Master" to give "Fear Monger" 800 additional ATK (1800/1000).[Notes 2]
- "Fear Monger" destroys "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" (Sarina 1 and 2: 8000 → 6800 LP)

- Draws "Magic Mirror Spirit - Nayuta".
- Tributes "Silver Spirit - Ukyo" to Tribute Summon "Magic Mirror Spirit - Nayuta" (2600/1400).
- "Magic Mirror Spirit - Nayuta" attacks Jaden directly (Jaden and Aster: 6600 → 4000 LP)
Turn 10: Jaden
- Activates "Pot of Greed" and draws 2 cards ("Polymerization" and "Elemental Hero Wildheart")
- Activates "Polymerization", sending to the Graveyard Elemental Heroes "Wildheart" and "Necroshade" (both from his hand) to Fusion Summon "Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman" (1900/1800)
- When Fusion Summoned, "Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman" can destroy 1 of the opponent's monsters, and it targets "Magic Mirror Spirit - Nayuta".
- In exchange, another monster is Special Summoned from Sarina 1's Graveyard; it summons "Silver Spirit - Ukyo" (800/600) in Defense Position.
- However, with "Ukyo" back on the field, Sarina 2 can Special Summon "Sakyo" (600/800) back from her own Graveyard, also in Defense Position.
- Activates the effect of "Elemental Hero Necroshade" in his Graveyard: Jaden can Normal Summon an "Elemental Hero" monster directly from his hand, if it is Level 5 or higher. He Normal Summons "Elemental Hero Bladedge" (2600/1800) in Attack Position.
- Activates "De-Fusion", separating "Elemental Hero Necroid Shaman" into "Elemental Hero Wildheart" (1500/1600) and "Elemental Hero Necroshade" (1600/1800)
- "Wildheart" attacks and destroys "Sakyo", while being unaffected by "Mirror Bind" due to its own effect.
- "Necroshade" attacks Sarina 2 directly (Sarina 1 & 2: 6800 → 5200 LP)
- "Bladedge" attacks and destroys "Ukyo", with its effect inflicting piercing damage (Sarina 1 & 2: 5200 → 3200 LP).
- "Full Moon Mirror" gains 3 Full Moon Counters. It now has a total of 8.
Turn 11: Sarina 2

- Activates "Pot of Greed" and draws 2 cards.
- Tributes "Destiny Hero - Fear Monger" to summon "Destiny Hero - Double Dude" (1000/1000)
- "Double Dude" attacks Sarina 2 directly.
- Sarina 2 activates "Soul Mirror", sending "Mirror Bind" to the Graveyard: This allows her to Special Summon a monster from her Graveyard; she targets "Silver Spirit - Sakyo" (600/800). This also allows Sarina 1 to Special Summon "Silver Spirit - Ukyo" (800/600) from her own Graveyard.
- Activates "D - Chain" and equips it to "Double Dude", giving it 500 ATK (1500/1000)
- A replay occurs, and "Double Dude" attacks and destroys "Silver Spirit - Sakyo". This activates "D - Chain's" effect: Now, Sarina 2 takes 500 damage (Sarina 1 and 2: 3200 → 2700 LP)
- "Double Dude" can attack twice in the same Battle Phase. It attacks again and destroys "Silver Spirit - Ukyo". Sarina 1 takes 500 damage from "D - Chain" (Sarina 1 and 2: 2700 → 2200 LP).
- "Full Moon Mirror" gains 2 Full Moon Counters. It now has a total of 10.
- With 2 of their monsters destroyed in battle, Sarina 1 activates "Buried Soul Talisman", which destroys "Double Dude" and Special Summons "Magic Mirror Spirit - Asogi" (1500/2500), from her hand, in Defense Position.
- When summoned, "Magic Mirror Spirit - Asogi" lets Sarina 2 Special Summon "Magic Mirror Spirit - Nayuta" (2600/1400) from her Graveyard in Attack Position.
- Sets a card

- When Aster activates "D - Spirit", he states that it can summon a "Destiny Hero" if he already has one on the field, when he should have said "if [he has] no 'Destiny Hero'es on the field."

- ↑ In the OCG/TCG, "Elemental Hero" Fusion Monsters cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.
- ↑ In the TCG/OCG, "Destiny Hero - Blade Master's" effect would give 800 ATK to all the controller's "Destiny Hero" monsters only during your opponent's Battle Phase, not the controller's.
