Jaden kept losing because he felt anxiety during the duels. He was hoping to be more calm like Chumley. Syrus said that Chumley was actually worried because he had already failed his exams twice and would get kicked out if he failed a third time. Chumley knew that with his dueling skills, that was exactly going to happen. Later on, in art class, Chumley made a great picture of Ayers Rock in Australia. Everyone really admired it. All of a sudden, Dr. Crowler called Chumley to Chancellor Sheppard's office. When he got there, Sheppard gave the good news that Chumley won the drawing contest for Industrial Illusions. That's when Pegasus called on the TV screen. He wanted Chumley to work for him at his company as a card artist, as long as Sheppard and Crowler give their recommendation. Sheppard did, but Crowler didn't because Chumley failed his exams. They made a deal that if Chumley can beat Crowler in a duel, he'll get the recommendation. That night, Chumley was worried that he would lose, so Jaden decided to help him. They stayed up all night practicing until the time of the duel. Chumley went first and placed a monster, face-down in defense mode. Crowler played Magnet Circle Level 2. It let him summon Ancient Gear (100 att), who's ability let him summon another. He then sacrificed the two gears to summon Ancient Gear Golem (3000 att). Golem attacked Chumley's monster, Des Koala. Golem's ability does damage to Chumley's LP even when the monster is in defense, 2800 LP. Luckily, Koala's flip-effect does 400 damage for every card in Crowler's hand ( 3200 LP). Chumley learned the trick thanks to Jaden's practice tips. Chumley summoned Ucaliptis Mole in defense mode and then played a face down. Crowler attacked Mole with Golem, doing more damage to Chumley (1100 LP). Chumley used Mole's ability to summon Big Koala (2700 att) to the field from his deck and Crowler finished his turn by summoning Ancient Gear Soldier in defense mode. Chumley played the magic card Wild Nature's Release. It added Koala's defense points to its attack points (4700 att). It attacked Gear Golem( Crowler's LP 1500), then Chumley played his facedown, Beast Soul. It let him trade his Big Koala for a monster of the same level, another Big Koala. He did it because Wild Nature's Release would have destroyed his other Koala at the end of his turn unless he switched it. He ended his turn by using the new Koala to destroy Gear Soldier. Crowler drew two cards using Pot of Greed and then activated his powerful magic card, Ancient Gear Factory. The card let Crowler summon Gear Golem back to the field by sacrificing the monsters in his graveyard. Golem destroyed Koala (800 LP, but then Chumley played a trap, Animal Training. It let him add Des Kangaroo to his hand. Crowler ended his turn by playing Ancient Gear Drill, which let him play any magic card he wanted facedown on the field. Jaden and the others cheered Chumley on and reminded him that he cant lose because his best friends will always support him. Chumley drew the card he designed. It reminded him of the time he went to Ayers Rock to throw his deck away because of his many losses, but then he saw a sunrise that inspired him to keep trying. He played the card Ayers Rock Sunrise, Which let him bring Big Koala back to the field and lower Golem's attack by 200 for every Koala monster in his graveyard (2600 att). Then he played Polymerization to fuse Des Kangaroo with Big Koala and summon Master of Oz (4200 att). He used it to destroy Golem but then Crowler played Limiter Removal, which doubled Golems strength (5200) (In the Japanese version, Crowler stated that he would take the attack and lose, but since it is a test, that he can't). It destroyed Master of Oz and Chumley lost. Crowler still, though gave Chumley the recommendation because he proved that he had enough skills to pass. Chumley said goodbye to his friends and promised to come back someday as he started his new job for Industrial Illusions.
