Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Chapter 027
From Yu-Gi-Oh!
Start of the Semifinals is the twenty-seventh chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga. It was first printed in Japanese in the V Jump magazine and in English in the Shonen Jump magazine. Both of which were printed in volume 3 of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX graphic novels afterwards.
[edit] Plot
David Rabb is perplexed by the presence of more than one Spirit Card, but is determined to claim both. Chazz Princeton meets Jaden Yuki in the hall, and states that regardless of whether he or Bastion Misawa wins the next duel, he will win the finals, and warns Jaden that Bastion is a good duelist. Jaden starts to warn him about David and his quest for a Spirit card, but does not go through with it. Chazz says that he is confident that he will win, and Jaden wonders if he does not know about Light and Darkness Dragon having a spirit, but then convinces himself that Chazz would not believe him and that he should not worry him.
Elsewhere, Chazz encounters Zane Truesdale and, jealous over his comforting Asuka after her loss, says he wants to duel him "as a duelist and... as a man!". Zane tells him that first he must win the tournament, and Bastion thinks that the tournament will crown him as champion of the academy, grant him a duel against Kaiser and most of all, give him a chance to get back at Jaden.
Having prepared for the duel, Bastion sets up his deck to thwart Jaden's attempts to summon Terra Firma, but Jaden persists toward that goal by repeatedly summoning Forestman. However, Bastion manages to thwart his efforts by using continuous traps that prevent him from sending cards to the graveyard except by being destroyed. Despite the desperate situation he is in, Jaden manages to enjoy his duel with Bastion, although the destruction of both the monsters needed to summon Terra Firma threatens his chances of victory.
