Notes
Edit
- In this episode, Marik activates "Metal Reflect Slime" after Yugi attacks him with "Obelisk the Tormentor", thus turning his Trap into a monster.
- In the anime, because "Metal Reflect Slime" takes a shape & name similar to the monster who attacked its controller, it turns into a copy of "Obelisk the Tormentor". At the same time, Marik starts calling his monster "Egyptian God Slime" right away.
- In this guide however, "Egyptian God Slime" is actually the result of the fusion between "Metal Reflect Slime" and "Revival Jam".
Featured Duel: Marik Ishtar vs. Yugi Muto - Part 3
Edit
Duel continues from previous episode.
Turn 8: Yami Yugi
- Yugi has just attacked Marik directly with "Obelisk the Tormentor" (Marik 4700 > 700 Life Points).
- Since he just lost over half of his Life Points in Battle Damage, Marik is able to activate "Metal Reflect Slime", whose effect turns it into a monster (0 ATK / ? DEF) that is summoned in Defense Position. "Metal Reflect Slime"'s DEF becomes equal to 3/4 of the ATK of the opponent's monster that just inflicted Battle Damage. Since "Obelisk the Tormentor"'s ATK is 4000, "Metal Reflect Slime"'s DEF becomes 3/4 × 4000 = 3000 ("Metal Reflect Slime": 0 ATK / ? > 3000 DEF). (NOTE: In the real game, "Metal Reflect Slime" does not require a duelist to lose half of their Life Points in order to be activated and always has 3000 DEF, regardless of any condition).
- Sets a Card("Magical Dimension")
Turn 9: Yami Marik
- Draws "Revival Jam".
- Aside from "Revival Jam", the other cards that are in Yami Marik's hand include "Jam Defender", "Polymerization", "Swallowtail Spike Lizard", "Class System", "Bait Doll", and "The Mask of Remnants".
- Summons "Revival Jam" (1500 ATK / 500 DEF).
- Activates "Polymerization", fusing "Metal Reflect Slime" and "Revival Jam" into "Egyptian God Slime" (? ATK / ? DEF). "Egyptian God Slime"'s ATK and DEF becomes equal to "Metal Reflect Slime"'s DEF ("Metal Reflect Slime": ? > 3000 ATK / ? > 3000 DEF).
Turn 10: Yami Yugi
- Draws "Big Shield Gardna" and subsequently Normal Summons it (100 ATK / 2600 DEF) in Defense Position.
- Uses "Obelisk the Tormentor" to attack and destroy "Egyptian God Slime".
- Marik activates "Egyptian God Slime"'s effect and Special Summons it from the Graveyard in Defense Position.
Turn 11: Yami Marik
- Yami Marik draws.
- Sets a card.
- Summons "Bowganian" (1300 ATK / 1000 DEF) in Defense Position. While this monster is face-up, Yugi will take 300 damage during each of his End Phases.
Turn 12: Yami Yugi
- Draws a card and subsequently sets it face-down("Soul Taker").
- Tributes "Big Shield Gardna" to Summon "Dark Magician Girl" (2000 ATK / 1700 DEF).
- Attacks "Bowganian" with "Dark Magician Girl", but Marik activates "Jam Defender", which switches the target of all of Yugi's attacks to "Revival Jam". Since "Egyptian God Slime"'s name is treated as "Revival Jam", "Dark Magician Girl" is forced to attack it instead. (Yugi 2300 > 1300 Life Points).
- "Bowganian"'s effect activates on the End Phase, inflicting 300 damage to Yugi (Yugi 1300 > 1000 Life Points).
(NOTE: In the real game, "Bowganian" inflicts 600 damage to the opponent).
Turn 13: Yami Marik
- Draws "Mining for Magical Stones" and subsequently activates it, discarding 2 cards to add "Monster Reborn" from his Graveyard to his hand.
(NOTE: In the real game, "Mining for Magical Stones" is called "Magical Stone Excavation").
