Summary
Edit
| This summary is currently incomplete. |
Back at the Duel, Yugi has 400 LP left, while Kaiba has 900 LP. Yugi then Summons "Kuriboh" then activates "Multiply", creating a wall of "Kuribohs" that no monster can penetrate. He then uses "Living Arrow" and "Polymerization" to fuse "Mammoth Graveyard" with "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon". However, since they can't properly fuse, "Mammoth Graveyard" will decrease Ultimate Dragon's ATK by 1200 during Yugi's End Phase. With its ATK down to 900, Yugi Summons "Celtic Guardian" and attacks one of the Ultimate Dragon's heads, which equals Kaiba's LP to Yugi's (Yugi: 400 LP , Kaiba 400 LP). Yugi now is confident that he can now win the duel and save both his grandfather and Mokuba. However Seto sees things differently. In his mind, he realizes he will never forgive himself if he loses because if he does then he may lose the only chance he has at saving his brother.
Seto then moves to the ledge of the tower (Seto Kaiba actually stated that he will move one step backward for every 100 Life Points taken away. He lost 500 LP so he moved 5 steps backward), threatening to jump if Yugi attacks (he says he might fall from the attack's shock waves in the English dub). Now, the score is tied He activates "Monster Reborn", Special Summoning "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". Yugi still has a chance to win, but due to Kaiba's statement and position, Yugi and Yami are now hesitant on what they should do because if they lose then Yugi will lose the only chance he has at saving his grandfather. Yugi notes there must be another way around all this, but Yami states to Yugi there is no other way. Yami attacks, but Yugi manages to hold him back, unable to watch Seto fall to his death. Seto attacks, destroying "Celtic Guardian" and winning the duel. Seto, now having 10 star chips, enters Pegasus' Castle while Yugi is left traumatized by what just happened in the Duel.
Featured Duel: Yami Yugi vs. Seto Kaiba
Edit
Continued from previous episode.
Turn 18: Yami Yugi
- Yami has just conducted his Draw Phase. The card he draws is "Kuriboh" which he then subsequently Normal Summons in Defense Position (300 ATK / 200 DEF).
- Yami then activates "Multiply" to create a wall of "Kuribohs" to protect his Life Points.
Turn 19: Kaiba
- "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attacks the "Kuriboh" wall, but fails to destroy it completely. The "Kuriboh" wall then regenerates itself.
Turn 20: Yami Yugi
- Yami draws.
- Yami then activates "Living Arrow" and "Polymerization" in order to fuse "Mammoth Graveyard" (1200 ATK / 800 DEF) to "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon".
- Since "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" is a living monster, it cannot properly fuse with the undead "Mammoth Graveyard", so it loses ATK equal to that of the ATK of "Mammoth Graveyard" during each of Yami's End Phases.
- Yami ends his turn. "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" loses 1200 ATK ("Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon": 4500 → 3300 ATK / 3800 DEF).
Turn 21: Kaiba
- "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attacks the "Kuriboh" wall, but fails to destroy it. The "Kuriboh" wall then regenerates itself.
Turn 22: Yami Yugi
- Yami draws.
- Yami passes his turn. "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" then loses 1200 ATK ("Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon": 3300 → 2100 ATK / 3800 DEF).
Turn 23: Kaiba
- "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attacks the "Kuriboh" wall, but fails to destroy it. The "Kuriboh" wall then regenerates itself.
Turn 24: Yami Yugi
- Yami passes his turn. "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" loses 1200 ATK ("Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon": 2100 → 900 ATK / 3800 DEF).
Turn 25: Kaiba
- Kaiba does not act and therefore forfeits his turn.
Turn 26: Yami Yugi
- Yami draws "Celtic Guardian" and subsequently Normal Summons it in Attack Position (1400 ATK / 1200 DEF).
- "Celtic Guardian" attacks "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's", however it only manages to destroy the middle head since the "Ultimate Dragon" was a fusion of three monsters and each of their heads share the same ATK (Kaiba 900 → 400 Life Points). Yami intends to destroy another head next turn to win the Duel.
Turn 27: Kaiba
- Kaiba moves to the edge of the tower and claims the destruction of his monster might blow him off (he threatens to jump in the Japanese version) if Yami attacks.
- Kaiba draws "Monster Reborn" and subsequently activates it to revive the middle head by Special Summoning "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000 ATK / 2500 DEF). (NOTE: In the Japanese version, Kaiba explains that since the revived monster is fused to the rotting dragon it can't attack that turn.)
Turn 28: Yami Yugi
- "Celtic Guardian" attacks one of the decayed heads of "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon".
- Yugi cancels the attack at the last moment, because he is unable to watch Kaiba fall to his death.
Turn 29: Kaiba
- "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attacks and destroys "Celtic Guardian" (Yugi 400 → 0 Life Points)
Kaiba wins.
Differences In adaptations
Edit
- "Multiply" is given a slight modification in the dub.
- In the dub, Kaiba says the attack against "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" could cause him to fall off of the tower, whilst in the Japanese, he says he will just simply walk backward for every 100 LP lost and commit suicide if Yugi wins.
