The Shining Darkness is the eighth and final set of the OCG's sixth Series after Absolute Powerforce. It is followed by Duelist Revolution, the first set from Series 7.

The Shining Darkness features the latest cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, including cards used by Crow Hogan, Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Akiza Izinski, Kalin Kessler, Leo and Luna.
Includes further support for the "Blackwing", "Koa'ki Meiru", "Morphtronic", "Infernity", "Ice Barrier", "Synchron", "Archfiend", "Frog", "Batteryman", "Worm", and "Ally of Justice" archetypes and introduces the new "Watt" archetype.
