Ruby[]

Well it appears the ruby text is wrong on this card too. It says てんくうりゆう tenkūriyū instead of the correct てんくうりゅう tenkūryū. I am aware that furigana (ruby) can be written like this, especially in older text, but Konami doesn't; it should be changed. Please, admins, correct this. Rainyday2012 14:39, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Resistance[]

The alternate lore is incomplete: Control of this card cannot switch. This card is unaffected by the effects of any spell and trap cards that do not designate a target and cannot be targeted by spell or trap card controlled by your opponent. This card is unaffected by the effects of any effect monsters that are level nine or lower. Any card effect that affects this card is negated at the end of the turn it was activated. --Dragonking 03:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Did you get that from the show or a video game, because for each god card their have been many different effects. Dmaster (Contribs Count) 10:22, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
  • (note) Slifer's ATK and DEF are equal to the cards in your hand. ssbm427 20:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
  • It should say that any monster who's attack or defense points are reduced to zero by his effect are destroyed.

Arabic Name[]

I wanted to add the Arabic name for this card, but since the page is locked I'll list it here.
Slifer the Sky Dragon
(Arabic: سلايفر التنين الفضائي)
Translated: "Slifer, the Spacial Dragon"
-- Melik el-Al'ab 19:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Italian Name[]

I cannot edit this card's main page, so i'll write it here. This card's italian name is "Slifer, Drago del Cielo". The english translation for it is "Slifer, the Sky Dragon". --Cercatesori 12:03, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Anime Name[]

Is the Anime name for this card really Silfer the Sky Dragon? -- Melik el-Al'ab 15:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Slifer in WC 2008[]

In YGO! WC 2008 Slifer was made availible for download on July 12, 2008 and is a Limited card. I can't edit the page to include this information, so can someone with the ability do it? And on a sidenote, have the other Egyptian God Cards become availible to download in the past?

Arabic Name Update[]

I'd like to request that the Arabic name be updated as follows:
Old name = سلايفر التنين الفضائي
New name = سلايفر التنّين الفضائيّ
Change & Reason: Added few extra (very small) characters. Assist in pronunciation. The character is named "Shadda" for those who are interested. -- Melik el-Al'ab 20:22, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Real Game Effect[]

First of all, let me make it clear that I know that Slifer is not legal in the real game. However, my friend insists that he should be able to use the God Cards and has tried to build his deck around them. We've tried to agree about what the effects should be, but usually just go with the anime. He's not that great of a duelist, but whenever he does manage to get the Gods out, no matter what cards I have, I can never seem to beat them. I'm asking for a universal opinion of what Slifer's tournament-legal effects would be, based on his effects from the anime. I'm asking for Slifer's because his are the hardest to get around (based on the anime). The anime effects are obviously broken, so make them realistic. Resul 03:21, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

  • You're in luck. Konami has revealed their in-house effects for the Gods, first appearing in WC08. In addition, legal Obelisk, and likely the others, will be out in Japan soon, most probably with these very effects. Slifer's goes:

"You must offer 3 Tributes to Tribute Summon this card. The ATK and DEF of this card becomes the number of cards in your hand x 1000. When this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, it cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monster effects. Additionally, when your opponent successfully Summons or Flip Summons a monster with 2000 DEF or less, it destroys that monster."

Enjoy. Rodtheanimegod4ever 03:36, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

  • Alright thanks man. I looked at all the alternate effects on this site and several others, and the WC08 effects looked the most appealing, but I guess I just needed someone else to make the decision for me. Alright cool thanks.Resul 22:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

wait what? it only destroys special summoned monster with a DEF of 2000? but i thought if the summoned moster was in attack position then it would be destroyed if it had 2000 or less ATK points and if it was in defense position then it would be destroyed if it had 2000 DEF or less.--112.202.128.130 09:51, September 24, 2009 (UTC)Natsumikun dude that card is easy to destroy once mt mate brangit to the field and he attacked me and he forgot my monster had 8000 atk points and he died

Dude null and void with disturbance strategy leaves Slifer the Sky Dragon with 0 (zero) attack and defense... destroy the hand and weaken the dragon, its a piece of pie ;p

Who the hell plays with null and void and disturbance strategy? That's a hard combo to pull off, and he can just counter with 7 tools.

You cant chain Null And Void to Disturbance strategy. You can only chain null and void to a card that only draws and does nothing else, like Pot of Greed.

Listen people how about its like this slifer's ability is that to summon it you have to sacrafice 3 cards to summon it and the number of cards in your hand times 1000 and thats it the other affects kinda ruin the game making it booring and youll always know that our going to lose --Raja club (talkcontribs) 00:14, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

A playable version of Slifer does exist since a few months.--77.13.145.35 (talk) 12:13, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

what effect[]

how many attack points does this monster have? it says on the page that there are like 5-10 different ways to calculate it.--Blueyeyesawesomedragon 20:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Number of cards in your hand x 1000.--77.13.145.35 (talk) 12:13, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

They just went WAY too far...[]

...with changing this card name. Yah, let's ruin a cool name such as Osiris just for a unecesseary inside-joke and name it after an executive producr no player knows or cares about. Because it's hilarious! (sarcasm)

Ok, outside of the ranting, what was the point? Why to change its name so unecesarely? The fact they got control of what to do with the TCG cards doesn't give them right to abuse like that.

I sorta agree if you're gonna make an Egyptian god card name it after an Egyptian god! (ex: Osiris) not the executive producer! Though I do agree that if the person died or contributed a lot to the show you should honor them.--Blueyeyesawesomedragon 00:24, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

What about Obelisk? I've never heard of an Egyptian god with that name before. Besides, Slifer sounds more terrifying. RedDrgn (talkcontribs) 17:48, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

obelisk was more in reference to the obelisk like towers that the Egyptians put up as in pillars

Normal or Effect?[]

Can I just ask if this card is really a Normal Monster or an Effect Monster, I mean, the real card here says a description like the normal cards but in many video games and anime, this card has an effect, so, is this really an effect monster or not?--33royward 11:46, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Well,if you treat this card as a real card,it is an Effect Monster. But Konami said this card doesn't exist since it is Illegal,so it is neither an Effect Monster or a Normal Monster.Otherwise, what are the "X"s in its ATK and DEF if it has no effect?--LightswornLord 09:38, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

atk and def[]

slifers atk and def are 1000X the number of cards in your hand use card destruction for a total of 5000 atk and equip it with mage power to make it really mean with 7500 atk--Bigbrain87 18:01, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

If you are talking about the effect monster then Slifer cannot be targetted by spells, traps or effect monster effects so you can't equip it with mage power. Even if you could how do you know how many cards would be in your hand? Card Destruction causes you to draw the same number of cards you discarded. I think you mean flip Morphing Jar --89.242.172.75 15:57, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

Abridged Redirect[]

Hehe. I went and typed "Slifer the Executive Producer" (from Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series) into the search field, and it re-directed me to the actual card. Interesting little tidbit. --Muramasa

Sorry to be totaly irrelevant but "Hey Tristan, why'd you buy a motorbike?" "Cos in the future, people play childrens card games on motorbikes" "Thats the most ridduculous thing I've ever heard Tristan..."

Lol, abridged rules --EndOfTheWorld 12:51, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Slifer's anti summon effect.[]

Alright, this is like the umpteenth time I've made a talk about a card up here. But this is what I want to ask about "Slifer The Sky Dragon". I am familiar with Slifer's effects, but something puzzles me and I would like to know. Slifer's effect saying that when your opponent Summons or sets a monster in Face-up attack or Face-down defense position, It is flipped up and it's attack or defense is decreased to 0 if it is 2000 or below and is destroyed. Well, lets say my opponent sets a flip monster face down on the field.Would its effect still activate or not? And also. Does Slifer's effect activate on monsters that are Special Summoned? Someone please clarify this to me.

And if a certain someone sees this, 11,300 ( Inside Joke )╠ŔííŁ3Ŷ ËмP╣ 07:19, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Whats up with the Japanese Limitation text on the image? o_O IonCharge (talkcontribs) 16:53, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

I believe the Effect Monster's effect would still activate. and yes Slifer's "2nd mouth effect" would still work if a monster is Special Summoned. -- Obelisk the Tormentor4000: 13:12pm - Aug. 19, 2011

Playable Version[]

When is the tournament legal version coming out? You know, like the ones Shonen Jump have released for Obelisk the Tormentor and Winged Dragon of Ra. -Malus X (talkcontribs) 03:08, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

  • I heard around the first of next year in Japan. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 04:50, December 11, 2010 (UTC)
    • How about here in the States? :P -Malus X (talkcontribs) 23:53, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
      • Both Obelisk and Ra were released in December.I bet the pattern will repeat itself on that front. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 00:21, January 7, 2011 (UTC)
        • Wow, it's been that long since the effect Obelisk came out? Crap. At least this way, they won't release it for the 3D movie. I'd hate to go out of my way like that just to get it. -Malus X (talkcontribs) 03:27, January 7, 2011 (UTC)
          • If they do that it would be cheap to get anyway because the KAZ Obelisk and Ra go for about 4 dollars on Ebay while the originals still go for 12 to 20 dollars depending on the version. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 03:34, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Topic: Gold Rare Cards

Anyone know if there will be a higher rarity for cards thats higher then gold rare?--69.29.34.201 (talk) 22:16, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

English Anime Effect[]

I am talking specifically about the non-legal, non-real card Slifer the Sky Dragon from the anime's effect. This page claims that Slifer is unaffected by card effects. I believe its being affected by Spellbinding Circle disproves that. Also, I do not recall a Continuous Spell or Trap Card affecting any of the God Cards, and I think that The Seal of Orichalcos was a story-based exception.
