If this card is send back to the hand deck removed from the play or graveyard from the field by a card effect (not attack) it's not activated,right?(same as man eater bug)

If I have an old version of Old Vindictive Magician where the effect is "Flip: Destroys 1 monster on the field (regardless of position)." Do I have to use the new effect, or can I use the old one? Cuz it would be a cool way to win if my opponent only has like 500 or less LP and I flip Old Vindictive Magician to destroy a fire monster on my side while I have Backfire out :b

if my opponent attacks a face down old vin. its flip effect is activated can i chain magical dimension to his effect and destroy a second monster and get the special summon?
