Talk:Dark Armed Dragon
From Yu-Gi-Oh!
FLORY-KUN SAYS: This is a NOMI MONSTER THAT CANNOT BE SPECIAL SUMMONED FROM THE GRAVEYARD EVEN IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY SUMMONED THIS CARD BEFORE. THAT MEANS IF THIS CARD IS DESTROYED AND SENT TO THE GRAVEYARD OR REMOVED FROM PLAY, YOU NEED TO RETURN THIS CARD TO YOUR HAND TO USE IT AGAIN. THE SUMMONING CONDITION OF THIS CARD IS SIMPLE, 3 DARK MONSTERS IN YOUR GRAVEYARD AND ITS FULFILLED. YOU CAN SPECIAL SUMMON 2 DARK ARMED DRAGONS IF THERE ARE 3 DARK MONSTERS IN YOUR GRAVEYARD. SPELLS AND OTHER ATTRIBUTE CARDS DOESNT COUNT. EVEN IF THERE ARE SPELLS\TRAP OR OTHER MONSTER ATTRIBUTES AS LONG AS YOU HAVE 3 DARK MONSTERS IN YOUR GRAVEYARD, YOU CAN SPECIAL SUMMON THIS CARD. THIS CARD IS A POWERHOUSE.
ALSO AS LONG AS YOU CAN REMOVE FROM PLAY DARK MONSTERS IN YOUR GRAVEYARD IT CAN DESTROY 1 CARD ON THE FIELD. THIS CARD IS BEING USED AND ABUSED IN JAPAN!
I am 100% sure that the effect should be like this.
When you have exactly 3 DARK monsters in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from your hand.
- Yup, you are right. You can only special summon this guy when you have exactly 3 Dark monsters in your graveyard. Nothing more, nothing less. -Pizzaman 09:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, not at all. Completely wrong. That definition covers only from the hand. The card reads "Cannot be Special Summoned except when" and the definition there only covers summoning from the hand. I am almost positive this card has no summoning condition, only a requirement. You need another card to special summon it when the conditions are met. IE, Call of the Haunted when he is in the graveyard with two dark monster cards. --75.68.92.190 03:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Does it? I don't know if that's right. I'm pretty sure that you can only special summon it from the graveyard like that if it was summoned properly first. But even then, I'm not sure. The lore reads like a nomi card ("cannot" be Specialed, instead of "can only" be Specialed) but not quite. Danny Lilithborne 21:23, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Officially, it's a nomi. --Deus Ex Machina 23:13, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Look at this: http://manjyomethunder.twoday.net/stories/4165304 !!!
- Is there a cost to special summon it, IE do you have to remove from play the three dark monsters in your graveyard in order to special summon it ? If you have 3 dark monsters and one other attribute, what will happen? KevinSephiroth 18:50, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- No for the first and nothing for the second. --Dragon Slayer 18:56, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be anything stopping one from summoning more than one Dark Armed Dragon from the hand if the Summoning conditions are met. This card could really be broken. Danny Lilithborne 09:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- lol, I actually read a comment like this in a 2ch thread when PTDN came out. At the current state, yeah, Dark Armed Dragon seems to be quite broken (and the low rarity doesn't help), but the consensus was that "Crow, Raiou and Deathcalibur exists for a reason." -Pizzaman 15:12, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
What "exactly 3 DARK monsters" means? i can have 3 DARK monsters and other (non-DARK) monsters or Spells/Traps (or both)?
This card is a Nomi. Also the artwork owns. --kaiba1234 01:44, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
awesome card with nice summoning conditions and effect.can be usable just by having a few dark monsters in your deck.D.A.D is easily a broken card for everything I said next to gyzaurus.Though in this case stardust save the broken day again.

though DAD is strong, he has SEVERAL weakneses. first of all, the dark monarch is WAY better, and destiny hero plasma will strip DAD of his effect then steal half his attack. also, 2800 ATTACK IS'NT THAT STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE ARE PLENTY OF MONSTERS OUT THERE THAT CAN EASILY OVERPOWER DAD AND/OR SUICIDE ATTACK AGAINST HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and no i am not just being a "sore loser" from losing against DAD. six samurai, gladiator beast, volcanic, crystal beast, dark world, and monarch have all proved to be more of a challenge than DAD. all you have to do to beat DAD decks, is find a way to screw with the amount of dark monsters in your oppenents graveyard. cards such as hard sellin zombie, and soul demolition can do just that. besides, building a competitive DAD deck costs an arm and a leg anyway............................................ DAD is very consestint, but the gladiator beasts are WAY faster and just as consestint. that's all i have to say for now.
can dark armed dragon be special summoned from the deck?
- No, it can only be Special Summoned by his effect from your hand. Bluedog (Talk) 02:00, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] DAD effect
can i use this cards effect once per turn or more than one time per turn??my brother says you can only activate its effect one time
- Yes you can. It's an ignition effect. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 21:23, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- DAD can be activated as many times as you have dark monsters in your graveyard to remove. --195.194.142.135 08:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
This card cannot be Special Summoned at all, only by they way stated on the card. This has already been said but for those who don't think so you can't
[edit] Gold Series 2 Image
Who found the DAD Gold Series card? The pack hasn't been released yet. So how did they find the image? --Narutoheroes12 01:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Why is this card so good?
- Can someone please explain what is so great about this card? Please no "it's overrated and sucks" etc. I just want to know why it's good because I really don't see the purpose of it.
- I personally don't think it is all that good, but those who do, have good grave control. They can SS a monster with 2800 ATK (well above many monsters), and keep feeding the grave with more DARK-attribute monsters so they can destroy many, many cards with its effect because it does not say once per turn. So in short, it has high ATK and a potentially field-clearing effect. Messengerofthedark 01:54, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Messengerofthedark
You can play a card to destroy a card basicly.99.191.83.94 00:54, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Lil'd
- That's why most DAD decks contain cards to keep him on the field, or bring him back. In fact, your best bet is to run a Save DAD deck, which relies strongly on not only grave control, but cards to keep DAD safe, such as Obsidian Dragon, Dark Illusion, Destruction Jammer, Card Guard, and negating counter traps like Seven Tools of the Bandit, Magic Jammer, and Dark Bribe. It also relies of cards to ressurect DAD, like Necroface, Monster Reicarnation, and A Feather of the Phoenix...
- The main reason why he's so good can be summed up in one other card, though. Doomsday Horror. The idea is to clean out your grave by destroying your opponents monsters with DAD, giving Doomsday Horror a potentially ridiculuos high ATK. When the Dark count in your grave gets low, to let's say one or two, use DAD's effect to destroy Doomsday Horror. Due to the effect of Doomsday Horror, all Dark monsters that are removed from play are returned to the owners' graveyards. Giving you another good 5-15 destructions, depending on the deck and situation. It is a +3 as soon as it hits the field too.
- THAT is why Dark Armed Dragon is good.
[edit] DAD Decks
can someone give me all the deck list that revolves around this card and can anyone give me all the dark attributed archetypes? Thanks a bunch.--33royward 10:41, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
I can't give you my specific deck list, but I can give you a few pointers...
- Slip in a few Doomsday Horrors. Not only will it gain ATK and DEF due to Dark Armed Dragon, but it can return all of your removeds to the grave.
- Save your DAD. Have a few Obsidian Dragons, Dark Illusions, and if push comes to shove, a Stardust Dragon.
- Slip in another Kingpin besides DAD, like Dark Horus. Remove Dark Horus from your graveyard from play, then use Escape From the Dark Dimension on it, giving you two ridiculuosly powerful Kingpins. With Dark Horus on the field, when your opponent uses a normal spell on their turn, special summon an Obsidian Dragon from your deck.
- Veil of Darkness can be useful for dumping Dark Armed Shots into your grave.
- Grave control is KEY. I'm talking about Soul Release, Skull Lair, and Prometheus, King of the Shadows.
- Summoning DAD on your first turn? It's as easy as Dark Grepher. Use Dark Grepher's effect to special summon him from your hand, then use his other effect to add two more Darks to your grave. That's three in one turn, with very few specific cards to rely on.
- Be tricky. Add Darks that can remove themselves from the graveyard without other effects, such as Necro Gardna. That way, you can manipulate your grave with ease.
Hope I helped. ^.^
