Name and origin of this "mode"[]

I think it should be noted that this "mode" is (IMO) influenced by the '99 Battle Royal novel or the '00 movie with the same name. The name and the characteristics match those of the movie. 79.103.191.162 (talk) 13:45, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

The term battle royal refers to a battle with more than two people, where they keep fighting until one person is left. This term was used centuries before the book was written. The book is named after the term, not the other way around. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:04, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Does anyone know when Battle Royal became an official term for a more-than-two-player Duel? The earliest I remember is when Primo unleashed his Ghost army on New Domino City. Did they ever refer to other Duels as Battle Royal Duels prior to this? RedDrgn (talkcontribs) 21:42, January 27, 2015 (UTC)

The Japanese title for the 123rd episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! is "Battle Royal". Although, I'm not sure the term was mentioned in the episode or the manga chapters it was based on. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:30, January 27, 2015 (UTC)
