Special Edition refers to a Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game product that contains 3 Booster Packs and 1 or 2 (depending on the Special Edition set) promotional Variant Card. The Variant Cards are either hard to get TCG cards or cards that were OCG exclusive. All Variant Cards are Limited Edition. Each Special Edition contains 3 Booster packs, usually all the same, but some aren't. There are variants of Special Editions under different names, such as Primal Origin Plus and The New Challengers: Super Edition.
Variant card rarity
Early Special Edition products included Ultra Rare and Secret Rare Variant Cards. Since the release of the Strike of Neos Special Edition, most Variant Cards have been released as Super Rare. In Primal Origin Plus, it included a Starfoil Sylvan Snapdrassinagon.
