The Stairway to the Dragon Star, known as the Sky Temple in the Japanese version, was an Pre-Inca civilization, located in the Andes and is where Yliaster originated. It was created 3,000 years before the present day events in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

The Sky Temple was ruled by the Star Dragon King, who prayed to their God, Dragon Star for salvation from the wicked disturbances, the people of the Sky Temple suffered. The Dragon Star responded by sealing the evil disturbances within the Earth in the Nazca Lines.

When the Crimson Dragon appeared during the Fortune Cup final, while the five Mark of the Dragons were present, Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, Luna and Akiza Izinski were shown a vision of the past. The four of them witnessed the five original Signers standing on the Sky Temple with the People of the Stars bowing before them.

Once the four of them finally reunite because of the concerning threat, being that the Dark Signers. They are then are invited by Rex Goodwin into his house. Thus once further inside there they surprised because of the existence of the Sky Temple within. And once there close to it, not only their Mark of the Dragon begans to glow, but also once again the Crimson Dragon appears before them.

It is also known now, that the chamber that is located at the top of the stairway, is where Roman's severed arm containing the Head birthmark currently resides.

After the King of the Underworld revives, it heads itself to where New Domino City is. As Goodwin´s Condor geoglyph has appeared above the Sky Temple. As half of the Stairway itself has emerge from above the ground thus destroying the mansion. Thus then the Crimson Dragon appears and transports the Signers and their companions to here. As Goodwin reveals to them its identity as the final Dark Signer, with the Condor mark on his back glowing. However he too procceeds to remove Roman's preserved arm from the canister and attached it to himself. In order to aqcuire the powers of a Signer none the less.

Therefore using his new powers, Goodwin is able to raise the rest of the Stairway with him at the top. As he informs that a Shadow Turbo Duel will be held within the Condor geoglyph that is above this emerged Temple. Thus Yusei, Jack, and Crow accept the Duel.

Shortly after Goodwin's defeat and the destruction of the King, the Stairway disappears along with the Condor geoglyph.
