Roland, known as Isono in the manga and Japanese anime, is one of the Battle City tournament officials. He appears to be Seto Kaiba's right-hand man and business advisor, as he appears later in the anime series to help Kaiba manage KaibaCorp.
In Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom, he has left KaibaCorp to work at SIC, and is the one who introduces the characters to the Kingdom game. During KaibaCorp-sanctioned tournaments, he also serves as the MC (Master of Ceromonies).
In the anime, he is known for insisting a duel continue regardless of the situation. (Of course, this was due to KaibaCorp regulations) This was continuing joke throughout the series. Often, he would continue talking about the duel, when there were bigger issues at hand - though Tristan Taylor and Joey Wheeler were aggravated because of this.
He also appears in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series during Jaden's flashback of one KaibaCorp card illustration project.[2]
A parody of Roland, known as Inoso, appears in several video games.
