Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki

Pierre the Gambler, known in Japan as Mitsuo (ミツオ, Mitsuo) is Alexis Rhodes' childhood classmate and a world famous gambler, having mastered games from blackjack to poker.

In primary school, Pierre would play games of chance with other students, always having them bet their prized possessions. After losing a game of Duel Monsters to Alexis, he steals her red hankerchief, which had been bet on the Duel.

Pierre is first seen playing poker in the ship’s casino. His nickname was "The Gambler" in the dub, while he uses the alias of "Boy" in the Japanese version. He never lost a card game or any kind of challenge. After winning another game of poker, he gets a tip about there being strong opponents in such games at Duel Academy.

He arrives at Duel Academy via jet ski where he asks Chancellor Sheppard and Vellian Crowler to let him duel Alexis (though the original has him offer to help fight the Shadow Riders). When they turned him down, he ended up taking out the Duel Academy security team that Chancellor Sheppard summoned until Alexis arrives agreeing to the duel. He finally duels with Alexis, but loses. In the end, it is revealed he actually has a crush on Alexis and returns the handkerchief to her. However, Alexis does not return these feelings and Pierre then leaves with Jaden Yuki trying to bid him farewell in the right way, although he fails at it.

Non-canon appearances[]

In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force, Pierre appears as an opponent during the Tag Force tournament, teaming with Blair Flannigan. After completing the game, he appears during part one at the pier, and can be selected as a partner, though the player must call his coin toss correctly. He is referred to simply as "The Gambler", with his in-game profile being the only place where his real name, Pierre, appears.

Voices/Mannerisms[]

Pierre speaks with a French accent in the English dub. In the Japanese version, his nickname is "boy", and he seems to intensely dislike being called "Mitsuo". In the European Spanish version, he has the nickname "el tahúr" (which refers to professional gambling or a person whose job is being a gambler).

Decks[]

True to his name and hobby, Pierre uses Decks based on chance, namely involving coin tosses, which predominantly implement "Second Coin Toss" as his main Deck impetus.
