A Phantom Synchro (ファントムシンクロ, Fantomu Shinkuro) is a method of Synchro Summoning a Synchro Monster from the Graveyard instead of the Extra Deck. This type of Summon was first performed by Crow Hogan in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime.[1]
Presently in the anime, the only way to perform a Phantom Synchro is by the effect of "Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow".
This is the complete opposite of the effect caused by the Trap Card "King's Consonance". Though not called "Phantom Synchro", a Synchro Summon using the same requirements was performed by Akiza Izinski in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime by using "Shining Rebirth" to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon" from her Graveyard using materials that were on the field.[2]
