Mr. Hanasaki, is Tomoya Hanasaki's father. Mr. Hanasaki is a Zombire fan. He works in America. Every time he comes home to Japan, he brings his son more Zombire merchandise.

When Tomoya was ill, Mr. Hanasaki brought him a Zombire figure from America, when he visited him at the hospital. Mr. Hanasaki tells Tomoya that this is Zombire and he's the strongest hero in America. Holding the figure, Tomoya says he feels stronger too. His father is delighted to hear this and promises to bring him more Zombire toys and figures every time he returns from America.
When Yugi, Jonouchi, Anzu and Honda visit Tomoya, Mr. Hanasaki arrives home from America. He enters Tomoya's room wearing a Zombire mask, scaring Tomoya's friends, although Tomoya recognizes him. After the friends leave, Mr. Hanasaki catches up with them for a word and asks them to please stay friends with Tomoya, as he worries Tomoya is fragile and that Zombire action figures are becoming his only friends. Yugi assures him they'll stay friends and Jonouchi says that Tomoya isn't as fragile as he thinks.
That night, Mr. Hanasaki spots Tomoya sneaking out disguised as Zombire. In an attempt to boost Tomoya's confidence, he pays a group of boys to stage injust acts and let Tomoya fight them off. The boys do so and Mr. Hansaski ask if they could do it again sometime.
The gang pretend to kidnap Yugi and draw Tomoya to them. Mr. Hanasaki finds out, what happens and is unable to pay what the boys demand. Yugi arrives at the Hanasaki house shortly afterwards. Mr. Hanasaki tells him Tomoya is in danger and both of them proceed to help Tomoya.
When they arrive, that boys have started attacking Tomoya and tell him they were paid to let him beat them before. Dark Yugi emerges and confronts the gang. Mr. Hanasaki tires to get Tomoya to leave, while Yugi has the gang distracted. Tomoya refuses, saying he'll never be strong if he leaves.
Dark Yugi disposes of the gang and Tomoya rushes to him to apologize. Dark Yugi encourages him saying he can still be a hero. Mr. Hanaski then realizes that he was wrong, Hanaski was a hero for getting beaten-up to defend his friend.
