This new card rule was applied with the beginning of the new series Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. The Master Rules are a modified version of the New Expert Rules, which basically consists on altering the rules along with some well-known Dueling terms.

These are the following:

Old Rules - New Terms (Japanese)

• Sacrifice - Release
• Fusion Deck - Extra Deck
• Sacrifice Summon - Advance Summon
• New Expert Rules - Master Rules
• Synchro Summon is added
• Synchro Monsters and Tuner monsters are added.

• Reverse and Special Summons remain as they are. Second Summons are also kept.

Old Rules - New Terms (English)

• Fusion Deck - Extra Deck
• Synchro Summon is added.
• Synchro Monsters and Tuner monsters are added.
• Multi-Trigger Effect - Quick Effect

Deck Type - Numbers of Cards Allowed

• Main Deck - 40-60 cards
• Extra Deck - 15 cards
• Side Deck - 15 cards

Monster Level - New Expert Rules - Master Rule

• Level 5-6 - Sacrifice 1 monster on the field and Sacrifice Summon (Tribute Summon) - Release 1 monster on the field and Advance Summon
• Level 7 + - Sacrifice 2 monsters on the field and Sacrifice Summon (Tribute Summon) - Release 2 monsters on the field and Advance Summon
