Kazuki Takahashi wrote and composed a Yu-Gi-Oh! theme song in samba rhythm. It is based on the early part of the manga. In 1997, he included the lyrics in volume 5 of the manga tankōban.

The lyrics are as follows:

Oh, he came from the sands of time

He's the King of Games, legends come alive

Evildoers will hide in shame

When they taste justice

In a Shadow Game

(Shadow!)

Oh, but when a king has a heart

And the door to that heart, it opens, it parts

There is always a friend in your heart!

Yugi! Yugi! Yu-Gi-Oh!
