Sir Gill de Randsborg, known as Jill deLauncebeaux (ジル・ド・ランスボウ Jiru Do Ransubō) in the Japanese version, is one of Goodwin's 5 Dueling Assassins placed in the Fortune Cup with the intent of exposing the Signers, as well as a member of Iliaster.

Design[]

Appearance[]

A large, fearsome man, Randsborg is decked out in the armor of a medieval knight. A customized Duel Disk serves as his shield.

Personality[]

He claims to be a blood descendant of a family of medieval knights. (in the dub, he is just a cosplay duelist.) He speaks in Elizabethan English, which is much more prevalent in the dub (saying things such as "I activate my monster's ability most special"), where it is an act. His personality is self-righteous, and he sees it as his duty to defeat the Black Rose Witch. He disobeyed some of his orders from Goodwin because the real reason he decided to battle in the Fortune Cup is to win the tournament itself.

Biography[]

It was said that Goodwin asked him to expose Akiza as a Signer (he only agreed because he found out Akiza is the Black Rose Witch). Gill faces Akiza Izinski, the Black Rose Witch in the first round of the Fortune Cup.

Akiza versus Randsborg

Randsborg vs. Akiza

During the Duel, Randsborg quickly falls victim to Akiza's powers which make the Duel real, and collapses after receiving a powerful attack from Akiza's "Black Rose Dragon".[1]

Deck[]

Anime[]

Record
Opponent(s) Episode(s) Outcome
Akiza Izinski 16 Lose

Randsborg uses a "Masked Knight" Deck featuring "LV" support. He also uses various cards to ward of attacking monsters such as "Sakuretsu Armor" and "Martyr Flag".

Video games[]

In the video games, Randsborg did not have his "Masked Knight" monsters so the "Silent Swordsmen" and "Mystic Swordsmen" were appropriate substitutes for them. In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers Randsborg has a Duel Runner and his "Masked Knights" are featured in the game. In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Duel Transer he was the third Duelist to fall victim to the Bifrost war song.
