So, after being semi'd long metas ago, I've noticed that usage of Reborn Tengu has dropped to pretty much nil; apparently, it doesn't have the appeal at 2 it did when it was at 3. However, now that we have the Fire Fist cards out - specifically Tenki - is there a chance that, as an experiment, Konami would unlimit Tengu again? It would be a great way of promoting Tenki and its abuse in Beast-Warrior decks, and it would help spark up interest in the card again. But Tenki could potentially break Tengu, and people had already feared Tengu before, when it was at 3.

Has the meta changed enough for Tengu to be unlimited without significant changes to it? Is it still as feared as it used to be, despite no one using it, nowadays? Will Tenki break Tengu at 2, anyway, or would it need to be at 3 to fully exploit it? What do you guys think on this subject? Vorpal Storm Pony (talkcontribs) 21:16, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Tengu is never going to go below 2, same as Summoner Monk. The fact that Tenki can abuse him is even more reason for him to stay at two. In fact I can really see Tenki going to 1 come the September ban list as it's pretty much just Reinforcement of the Army.--The FireFALL (talkcontribs) 21:56, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

I think it really depends on what happens with Tenki and how much of a problem it becomes. I mean Fossil Dig is basically a RotA for Dinos, but we don't see it at 1, just saying the impact it has is more important than what the effect resembles. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 19:02, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
Precisely, and what better way to test out its impact than to unlimit Reborn Tengu in order to pimp it out? Right now, the only real competitive archetype that will rigorously use Tenki is the Fire Fists, and we haven't yet seen how much of an impact they're going to bring to either side of the game, OCG or TCG. So, by putting Tengu at 3, they can lure people into using Tenki outside that deck, and see if it becomes teched to abuse Tengu, or if they forego it for just Tengu, or just drop both for the more popular (and likely easier to play) Rescue Rabbit and Tour Guide engines. But's that not really an experiment when you know that people will make decks around Tengu, Tengu just makes it too easy to not care what your opponent has on the field, save for a Solemn Warning. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 19:51, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
Konami want to players to use Xyz Monsters. "Tengu" cannot use its effect if used as a Xyz Material, but can (and will) if used as Synchro Material/Ritual Tribute, so I think it will stay at 2 forever, like "D-HERO Malicious". As for "Tenki", it is much better than the others Spell-Searchers because it stays on the field, it can be recycled with "Beast God Vulcan" or even "Mist Valley Falcon" (remember why "Premature Burial" is Forbidden?), it will be at least Semi-Limited, but only if Beast-Warriors go Tier 1. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 20:05, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I was going to mention Tenki being abusable by bouncing but you beat me to it. :P As for it's impact, it's already being felt hard. In the OCG this week most of the locals have been won by either Flame Kings or Fire Fists, both using 3 Tenki, hell even a Sacred deck topped with 3 Tenki. So it's impact is already being felt.--The FireFALL (talkcontribs) 19:14, February 5, 2013 (UTC)
What's a Sacred deck again? --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 04:17, February 7, 2013 (UTC)
Ignore the obove, just ignore it. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 04:22, February 7, 2013 (UTC)
