All of us have encountered them. The type of dueliest that either detests losing or its just a lousy person to play agaisnt. I kinda wanna hear other peoples stories about encounters they've had with people they regreted afterwards.
My story happened about 2 weeks ago. I was dueling this guy in my area who has since I started the game about 2 years ago nearly always been able to kick my ass. No matter what I did he always had answers. Well as it stood right now I finally after working on Hopeless for over a year and transforming it into Diaster got around to playing him. Aparntly he was feeling really proud for placing in the top three at a local tourney with a new Empty Jar varient he had been working on. Well the duel went mostly for his favor just milling us both down to nothing until I had only like 3 cards left in my deck. I turn around and tribute Genesis Dragon for Prime Material Dragon and indicate I am activating its effect. He aparntly didn't know whats its effect was and just waved his hand indicating he heard me. Well that stopped pretty fast when he saw me adding the 20+ dragons from my graveyard back to my deck. Yea that pretty much stopped the duel as he quickly picked up Genesis Dragon and after reading it proudly declaring "thats stupid broken" well needless to say I won the round just by him decking himself out. I continued to win just using the same stradegy over and over again agaisnt his deck. Near the end of one of the duels I actually didn't have any cards in my deck after a draw phase and was looking through my graveyard after indicating I was activating REDMs effect. During this time I heard someone say my name and turned to see who it was. Afterwards I finished searching the grave and found the Magna Drago I was looking for to synchro with genesis to once again use its effect. And he has the gall to say I'm cheating. "You sat there going through you graveyard for 5 minutes you must have cheated" I was alittle wierded out thinking how could I have cheated. I'm special summoning a dragon from either my hand or graveyard. You yourself made sure all my dragons were in one of those places. I even asked him how he thought I was cheating and he just once again yelled louder that I was cheating. Before leaving in a rage.
Sorry for the wall of text but I just needed to show how the situation seemed to get worse and worse and how the more he lost the angerier he got. Shoulda just switched to his Fortune Lady deck and make me work alittle for my wins. Steelfallenangel 01:57, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, technically, if you synchro summon with Magna Dragon and Genesis Dragon you can't use Genesis's effect (missing the timing). Also, the same way with tributing it. So, you were cheating, but not in the way he thought. Runer5h 02:02, April 12, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
He just didn't know. Basically that's not cheating, that's misplay. And poor sportsmanship makes me sad. Guys it's just a card game for goodness sakes. Don't get competitive over that except maybe for a tournament. Then is the time and control your anger. Fallensilence (talk • contribs) 21:51, September 26, 2010 (UTC)
- And next time, blame other people for delay the time instead of blame the player. I am glad that you have cool head at that time. But above two posters who commented after you were right, Genesis Dragon cannot activate it effect then tribute or removed by effect (not destruction) is almost same way with "Magical Exemplar" and Magical Citadel when I asked people here earlier to making sure I was on the track to not screw up with them when I using them the same way. And if you were distract, you should tell them to hold on till you finish search for the card that your card's effect requirement have activate, then you can looking up to the one who summoned you. --FredCat T.P. • F.R. • J.R. • W.S. 22:06, September 26, 2010 (UTC)
I haven't had any bad sportsmanship duels, really, except with CPUs. Like in Reverse of Arcadia, the team leader who plays Six Sams and makes you start with 4000 Life Points saying, "Haha! You are so pathetic!" which I think is rediculous because he makes ME start with that handicap. I OTK him anyway. --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 01:17, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
This guy cussed at me a lot when I destroyed Stardust Dragon Assault Mode with sheer power thanks to Armory Arm and some other cards. He started going out of control and stuff and I never saw his face again. Fallensilence (talk • contribs) 02:44, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Cheating's also bad sportsmanship, right? It's only occurred on MSN duels, but I've had an instance when someone pretty much began conjuring highly improbable combos out of thin air (first turn Exodia, anybody?), using cards that somehow entered the Graveyard when there was no record of it being there, and completely switching strategies in the middle of a Duel. I played along for the first few times this happened, but eventually got sick of it. The cheater was then deleted off my contact list. --Gadjiltron (talk • contribs) 09:12, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Well I guess so. Cheaters annoy me but the thing that annoys me the most is that they aren't doing it for a joke. That's what disgust me. Fair and square sounds like it doesn't exist anymore. Fallensilence (talk • contribs) 13:10, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Alright if you want a funny story ill tell you about my ex friend who i used to duel with in many card games,he used to be a good kid liked a challnge but as he got more into card games he started to see it as more toward money then having fun, this was around the legacy of darkness set as such dragon types started to become good and i finally got my hands on both rare and normal cards, one of the cards that very same friend of mine traded me was 3 tyrant dragons for a spear dragon,he didnt care about the rarity back then all he cared about was the 1900 atk power having it 4 stars, and yes he was one of those people who spent tons of money getting high attack 4 star monsters like gemeni elf, unlike him my deck focused a bit more on stratgey like spirit ryu and super rejuvenation dragons bead, small things such as that,he was already pissed by mid game as his deck wasnt working out well against mine eventually spirit ryu helped me beat the effect of his fairy injection lilly but the finishing move made him flipped,he got killed by the very same tyrant dragon he traded me,with my first game win(we didnt play a second match)he slammed down his deck on the table in front of me making a scene and said"HERE HAPPY Birthday!!"with that he ran off and left his gf behind, most declared he had anger problems and poor sportmanship many looked at me and asked"so are you gonna take the deck?"by the time the tournament was over he came back asking people where i was and where his deck was,the store owner i heard gave his deck back since i trusted the store owner like a second father as the store owner replied:Your deck is here but your friend it seems took your woman instead as his birthday present now their on the way to his house so she can give him his birthday present, from what i heard he became the laughing stock of the store and incidentally we never been friends since,i couldnt stand his temper his poor sportmanship or how he treated people.Raventheblack (talk • contribs) 00:16, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
Here is a interesting story... I had this "friend" (not really friends, but we Traded/Dueled together) who knew a bit more about the game then me and most of my friends knew at the point (casual duelists). He got his hands on Stardust Dragon and treated it like SDAM, then we actually read the card and he just started agued about it (the way he traeted Stardust made him one of the best players around), saying that that was how the card worked, and me and my three other friends said no, that's not how it works, then he started yelling and just stormed out of the library (the only place we could find to duel where it was peaceful), and we never heard from him for a couple weeks, and then he finally came back, since then I took up a rule book, joined this site, and now I would the be decider of what is legal and not for the next year and a half, no one else knew about the game more than I...BassNettoHikari2...Chat Page... 00:32, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
Well we needed someone who needed the rules. And this Wikia is very powerful indeed, its helped my dueling deck jump leaps and bounds (to the point where one of my friends won't face my CB Deck), plus the simple knowledge is tremendous...BassNettoHikari2...Chat Page... 01:58, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
- I agreed with you, Bass N., and I also became judge since the one at my local had poor job with some cards rulings - such as "Dark Strike Fighter" allowed to tribute both sides of the field for it effect. Or tried to activate Solemn Judgment on my special summoning "Shining Angel" that was picking by first Shining Angel in the battle phase. He had many wrongs where I discovered and fixed the resolve. --FredCat T.P. • F.R. • J.R. • W.S. 02:03, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
If I wasn't dueling I was modding, and if me and my opponent would have an issue, we would present our case the rest of our club, and they would vote on who was right, was a good system. You need people who know the rules to stop those who would use them falsely, or a simple misunderstanding. Good job FredCat...BassNettoHikari2...Chat Page... 06:40, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
We don't run a club but we have enough people to do it. The reason why we don't run a club because people would come and steal cards. There is no way we would make it public. Fallensilence (talk • contribs) 23:13, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
We had a group of 7-9 HSers raging from Freshmen to Seniors + one awesome Card Game loving faculty member. We were in a teachers classroom and we were never disturbed (no one went there but us). We didn't need to make it an official club, but it was just a cool idea to make it official, unfortunately the club no longer exists, as the school no longer exists. And I was really the only one to start running decks that had major strategy. Our meta was completely different, Neo Spacian Air Hummingbird was considered meta there...BassNettoHikari2...Chat Page...
Air Hummingbird? Meh...it's an easy +1000 or > I guess. The only bad sportsmanship I get comes from my friend (er acquaintance) . I see him and my cousin duel each other. My cousin Normal Summons Six Sam Zanji (no resp) and then Special Summons Grandmaster. The "friend" response with Bottomless, saying that both Zanji and Grandmaster get RFP. Another example of his poor sportsmanship is whenever I destroy one of his face-downs. Me:I activate MST, destroying that one face-down (it's Mirror Force). The "friend":Thanks, I needed that.|DED((Leaving Me Messages Are Often Left Here) 01:47, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Huh. Good stories from all of you. I especially loved RavenBlack's story. Sent me loling. Only story I have is when I was playing an online Yugioh video game known as Duel Monsters Expert (its on BYOND) and a guy asks to have a Riding Duel with me. I say yes, and right when Wisel is about to destroy him, he ragequits and goes around telling people he won. Naturally, everyone thought he was lying (much to my surprise, as most people dislike me.) So he then starts talking smack until an admin tells him the shut up. Fun times. Adamtheamazing64 (talk • contribs) 03:40, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Wow this thread returned from the ashes. I had a new one to add myself, from a judge ironically enough. I was at a regional qualifer. My oppenent had two fast down back fields and I had a face up REDM and Prime Material and Royal Oppression with a face down Bottomless Trap Hole. On my turn I activate a heavy storm since I wanted to go for game and make sure my oppenent couldnt stop me. So he chains Starlight road to my heavy storm. To which I was fine since I had royal oppression ready to handle stuff like that. I of course negate the summon. My oppenent then turns and activates Assault Mode Activate. He claims that he could chain to it. I claim that since I negated the summon of stardust dragon their would be no target for him to chose. We call a judge over. I felt pretty confident in my position so what the judge did completly shocked me. Wben we explained what we did he said you couldn't chain Royal Oppression to Starlight Road. I ask to speak to the head judge about the matter since I don't agree with his judgment. The head judge comes over and we show him what happened. After he hears what cards were played he looks quizalically at us like what could you even be asking me about. I say that the other judge ruled that Royal Oprression couldn't be chained to Starlight Road. Man does he get pissed. He turns to the other judge and begins just relentlessly chewing him out. Like "How many times is shit like this gonna happen today?! Can't you get even simple rulings right" and the smaller judge just kept saying "the kids WRONG you CAN"T chain royal oppression to starlight road" Well in the end it was ruler favorably to me but damn that judge wouldn't let me go. Even after the head judge left he said "I still think your wrong"
