I'd like to say that pendulum monsters are just what my deck needed, and that I'd like to see a bunch of generic onesDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 16:56, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

And your deck is???
I already got plans for what i am going to do with them........too many plans actually. Make God summoning easy for oneDreadKaiser (talkcontribs) 21:26, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
well, just with what's already leaked, I could use Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Stargazer Magician, and Timegazer Magician to boost the swarming capabilities of my variety deckDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 21:40, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah they will boost anthing that doesn't already drop 4-5 monsters a turn, in which case they will slow them downDreadKaiser (talkcontribs) 21:54, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
atm, it holds its own with 1 monster per turn, so imagine with pendulums(changing the variety to everything from Mist Valley Shaman to Stargazer Magician to Shinato, King of a Higher Plane to Obelisk The TormentorDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 23:07, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

As of right now, it seems to me that Pendulums can help slower Decks to compete with faster Decks, which is a good thing. However, I hate the fact that the new "Super Starter" includes only 2 Pendulum Monsters. This makes it difficult (in fact nearly impossible) to use the game mechanic without buying multiples of the same Deck, which unfortunately consists of mostly bad or mediocre cards.

To make matters worse, neither the Deck nor the Power-up Pack include Synchro or Xyz monsters. Pendulum Summons make these far easier to accomplish and the Deck would have been more interesting for if it had some cards that were worthwhile summoning.

In short: the mechanic is intriguing, the introduction of them is lackluster.--BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 23:17, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

long-winded, but accurate, and I have a feeling that forcing people to buy multiples is exactly what konami had in mindDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 23:58, July 9, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry for my long rant, I didn't realise that I also got slightly off-topic. --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 13:13, July 10, 2014 (UTC)
Usually new summoning mechanics get better through the Booster packs. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 15:35, July 10, 2014 (UTC)
True, but the Starter Decks that introduced Synchro and Xyz did a better job concerning the introduction of their respective new game mechanics. Maybe it is because Xyz and Synchro were Extra Deck monsters, so you didn't have to draw into them, but the probability of having both Pendulum Monsters at the right moment is rather slim. Of course this only applies to one copy of the Deck, not multiples merged together.

EDIT: Aside from Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, the pendulum monsters in Duelist Alliance don't seem to be that good either. Synchro Monsters were more playable with the first set they appeared in, IMO at least. --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 16:21, July 10, 2014 (UTC)

yeah, hopefully they will get better in time, like releasing a bunch of dual-scale onesDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 18:10, July 10, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think the Gazers are really viable tbh, even if you had 3 of each and 3 OEPD to search them. In that case, you'd only open with a Pendulum Summon in just over a third your games by my calculations. Now, that number does increase to a respectable two thirds by turn 5, but at that point most decks will have trouble getting enough monsters in hand for it to be worth it, especially after taking what's almost a -2 by setting the scales. :(

I agree that the booster pack Pendulums are way better though. Qliphoth Tool for instance is two scales in one and incredibly searchable, letting you open with a Pendulum Summon over 90% of the time, and between Tool's effect and most Qliphoth monsters returning to the extra deck, Tool always has something to summon. Don't Forget about the vanilla pendulums in DUEA. they have a massive plus over the gazers in that they are searchable by things not named odd-eyes. The azure summoner from the Shitty Starter, Summoners Art and ROTA. teh Spellstone cannon has an added edge of being able to pop kaiser colluseum, tensus and the like. not to mention they can be used with other pendulums, not just eachotherDreadKaiser (talkcontribs) 20:30, July 10, 2014 (UTC)

yeah, activating the cannon and knight is about as effective as activating the gazersDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 20:54, July 10, 2014 (UTC)
True, with ROTA at 2 and everything else you mentioned at 3, you'd actually open with a with both vanillas 2/3s of the time, rising to over 90% by turn 5. Add a few other pendulums (like some Entermates or something) and you've actually got a consistent deck. The only downside is that the Pendulum engine would be like a third of your deck at that point, even before including any ways to take advantage of all the cards you're summoning. Pendulums aren't exactly splashable right now. :/ Emmic (talkcontribs) 20:55, July 10, 2014 (UTC)
The way i have them in use right now on YGOpro is to mix with Gods. Pendulums as recursive walls tribute/synchro fodder (and for Obelisks effect), Supply unit to draw (and MST bait since anyone smart will hit it over a scale that can be replaced more often then not) Not competitive naturally (can be later though......) but fun as hell. Mound of the bound creator can protect both the gods and higher lever synchros (Star eater+Mound is hard to get rid of)DreadKaiser (talkcontribs) 06:01, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
wow, you just named all the ways I planned on using them in my variety deckDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 16:23, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
