If a monster card says If this card battles, your opponent's cards and effects cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step, does this include direct attack declaration in which even battle fader/Swift Scarecrow cannot be activated?--Jon.onate (talk • contribs) 04:45, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

A direct attack is not battling a monster and instead attacking the opponent directly. So effects involving battle don't get activated. --MasterMarik (talk • contribs) 12:25, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

"If this card battles" also applies if a card attacks directly; going by the text of "Hi-Speedroid Chanbara" and the third point on its database rulings pages. Becasita ^Pendulum (talk • contribs) 13:41, January 4, 2017 (UTC)
