"Aren't we forgetting something...?"

The past few contests have been looking at new content coming from packs. But we've been missing out on something else.

Since LVAL, the Korean packs have been gaining 5 additional exclusives per pack. We've been overlooking these, so now would be a good time to rectify this.

Guidelines

  • All OCG and TCG cards are fine, as long as it has been released proper.
  • Deck must be in Template:Decklist.
  • This contest will utilize the April 1st, 2014 TCG Banlist.
  • You will be given maybe 1 day if you are late to post, after that, you're out.
  • Deck submissions will open on 6th June 2014 and close on 8th June 2014.

Is it just me, or do both Elder God Noden and Outer God - Nyarla appear related? Their effects seem to imply so... Chromace (talkcontribs) 06:51, June 2, 2014 (UTC)

Azzathoth, Noden and Nyarla all came from Cthulhu Mythos. I won't be surprised to see Cthulhu itself as a Level 4 Synchro or Ritual Monster :) --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 02:54, June 3, 2014 (UTC)
And then people can literally 'punch out Cthulu' ^_^. Perhaps a new Series or Archetype? Chromace (talkcontribs) 06:28, June 4, 2014 (UTC)
And yes, now I fully expect a Korean exclusive Synchro to carry on that theme. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 17:06, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

Just use the card in your deck somehow I suppose?

FonyX, generally you make a deck based around or based on the chosen monster's effect. You can look at past events to see what I'm talking about if you don't understand. Sorry if I couldn't explain it enough. Hastydemon2 (talkcontribs) 03:37, June 3, 2014 (UTC)
Do your best in making the card central to your Deck's strategy. It can be a combo that uses it. The card can be the Deck's Key Card. But try not to make it a generic Deck with the card slapped on as a footnote. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 11:09, June 3, 2014 (UTC)
Okay these cards just seem good but sort of non-specific and not really deck-defining barring the ones already chosen FonyX (talkcontribs) 14:44, June 3, 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, this is a tough theme to use for a WDC, mostly because the cards are so generic, even to the point that a lot of them aren't even good cards. I'm curious to see what the decks will be because of this, however. Elder God Noden is insane, of course. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 17:06, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

Admittedly, I just hastily cobbled this together without actually looking through the cards in detail. For future pack-based WDCs I'll include other interesting language-exclusives. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 14:00, June 7, 2014 (UTC)
Indeed. Just slap an Instant Fusion in the deck and we have an easy way to summon a Rank 4, or most Synchros. Chromace (talkcontribs) 05:45, June 8, 2014 (UTC)

Nate7662 is disqualified for being late. Voting phase begins. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 00:08, June 11, 2014 (UTC)

Nyarla, from H.P Lovecraft's The Haunter of the Dark, is able to assimilate any sort of form (according to a brief Wikipedia search, so don't hold me to this). Likewise, its XYZ card counterpart is making a killing with copying the essence of its deceased Synchro compatriots. This deck provides a viable way to incorporate the powerful but hard to perform Spell Card Black and White Wave, its effect capable of banishing any card on the field, with a net gain of 1 for the user.

First off, let's talk activation requirements. Black and White Wave requires an XYZ monster with a Synchro monster as one of its Overlay Units to be on the field. For this to work out, it means that there should be enough similar leveled monsters in the deck to work as both Synchro and XYZ materials. Gadgets ended up being the perfect fit. Due to their toolboxing, they make all special summons much easier to execute - Tuners are never in want of more allies, nor halves of an XYZ monster.

There really aren't many cards which can find Spell Cards on demand, so the best way to use B&W Wave is to have Nyarla at hand whenever that does happen. The Gadgets are a great help by themselves - they basically guarantee your hand won't completely dry up - but there's more this deck is capable of. Tin Goldfish enables a quick XYZ or Synchro depending on the duelist's mood. Furthermore, Stronghold the Moving Fortress can be called upon at almost any time as versatile fuel and defense. When Genex Ally Axel gets the opportunity to come out, it's busy creating summon fodder out of the Gadgets.

A nice little combo exists in Instant Fusion and Elder God Noden for special summoning. Using Noden's effect, a monster (Tuner most of the time) is taken from the graveyard, then used as more summoning material. It's essentially an improvised Soul Charge (without the inability to battle and limited to on average, 3 monsters, not counting the XYZ or Synchro cards summoned). Yes, it's Nate's card, but it works much better than Iron Call.

When it comes to supporting the trio, there is plenty going on. Machina Armoured Unit is a versatile searcher, having the ability to search for practically any Tuner in the deck after one of the Gadgets are defeated, leading to easier summons. Furthermore, Emeral revives three monsters back into the deck, which, if things get drastic, will work as another cycle of Gadgets to burn through. Gear Gigant assists with consistency - with the ability to search for almost any monster in this deck, it makes it useful for on the fly summons.

Thanks for reading. Chromace (talkcontribs) 05:45, June 8, 2014 (UTC)

Well there are a few things about Yu-Gi-Oh that are always present and always first and foremost before any meta or tiers or anything else can be considered: you have 8000 life points, that is you, but they could be any number above zero and you can still win. Then there is the hand; five cards and one more each turn plus whatever you can add through card effects; the graveyard, which you can pile things into and use as a resource, the banished zone is the same but with a different card pool that interacts with it. The deck is the future of the game, where the cards are drawn from and searched from. The past the present and the future are all there and it is your job to survive longer than your opponent while you gather these things. The field is where this is all happening, where life happens in the game and the damage and effect mostly come from. Well Wattchic Fighter is a disruptor. It can take a card and and move it away from the grave to the deck. It has nice stats too: Psychic type and Light attribute and level 3, which is one thing that all these Korean cards have in common, they all have good stats that work well with other cards, even if their effects are kind of wonky. But back to my card: It can be summoned by E-teleport and removed for Chaos monsters, and when it is summoned it give the player an opportunity to misplace one of their opponents cards. Unfortunately the timing on this card prevents it from being too disruptive, it can't be chained to a revival effect to stop it. But the other uses for it are valid: it can be summoned on the players turn to give the opponent their last card. Usually there will be a card that they don't want to draw. Or a card that can be sent away from the grave to deny the opponent access to its effect. But that is only what it does in the deck. Krebons is a psychic tuner that is dark, to add more targets for E-teleport. The Shaddolls are an extra that gets powerful monsters out easily, with Shadoll Fusion being an easy summon if the opponent has an extra deck monster, and dragon an MST monster. Nephilim and Krebons can make Dragoascension, with Nephilims effect powering it up further by beefing it up the hand. The Lightsworn engine giving a light counter part to the Shaddolls, Lumina giving instant Synchros or Xyzs, and Felice being another target for Mathematician (besides Dragon) for an instant Synchro. Masked Chameleon is the other easy Sycnhro card. The rest of the deck is fairly self-explanatory , call of the haunted and soul charge letting the boss monsters have their moment if they missed it, Leviair is summoning power, Emeral and Pot of Dichotomy can put cards back in the deck and extra deck to use again, hopefully for the win. Wattchic may not have a gamebreaking effect like Norden or but these are hopefully these unique Korean cards keep coming because they honestly have really cool artwork and effects and I'd like to see how they're integrated into the TCG.
