After seeing it implemented on es:Plantilla:Carta7, I added the same functionality to our {{CardTable2}}. Prior to this, I'd never really given much thought to the use of interwikis here, much less known there were actually any set up.

I see this doing a few things:

  1. Automating a severely neglected aspect (the addition of interlanguage links) of our card pages;
  2. Allowing readers to at least have a chance at reading information in their native language;
  3. Highlight places where either our translation must be updated or the other language wiki's article must be moved or created.

Are there any other interwiki prefixes currently set up on this wiki that should be added in the same manner, or any other language versions that should be added to the interwiki map (I'm pretty sure there's an Arabic YGO Wikia, and surely there's a Japanese YGO Wikia as well...)? There could be some more which don't end in ".yugioh". I just checked for subdomains.
The obvious problem with using the name parameters is they're not always going to be the same as the pagename on the other wiki. e.g. "Jinzo #7". Have you any fallback in mind? -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:36, January 15, 2011 (UTC)
When I first added it to {{OCG-TCG card image}}, I considered spinning the code {{#replace:{{#replace:{{#replace:{{#replace:{{#replace:{{#replace:{{#replace:{{#if:{{{name|}}}|{{{name}}}|{{{card}}}}}|#}}|<}}|>}}|[}}|]}}|{}}|} }} out into its own template; it would be trivial to do so and then to apply that template to the auto-generated interwiki links.
I'd like to add opt-out parameters for each iw language we add, in the event the linked wiki page doesn't exist but suddenly gets repeatedly created by vandals or something, but we'd need a per-iw tracking category to go with it, periodic sweeps of said categories, and some other way to easily click through opted-out iws. 「ダイノガイ千？！」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:42, January 15, 2011 (UTC)

I'm in favour of the addition. I have a question though. That wiki is pt.yugioh.wikia.com and its logo suggests that it's Brazilian Portuguese. Since there's also a pt-br.yugioh.wikia.com are both wikis Brazilian Portuguese, is pt.yugioh.wikia.com meant to be a different dialect or does it make a difference? -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:51, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

reset indent I was wondering about Polish interwiki links. As I can see, the Infobox automatically adds IW links whenever the name in the different language is specified using the Infobox. It worked similarily with Polish as well. The problem is that TCG in Poland is based on English version, and the Polish Wiki uses English names in articles, making the pl interwiki links incorrect and leaving most of card pages without interwiki links at all. My suggestion would be adding an automated parameter that creates pl interwiki links using the same name as used on this Wiki (since we use YGOrganization translations as placeholders for non-TCG cards as well). That whole system was really a bad idea; interwiki links should be added manually. The only reason I haven't already moved us away from the auto-added ones is because it'll take a massive amount of work to manually add the correct links to all pages, and we don't have anyone capable of running an interwiki link bot for us as some other wikis have. I've asked around some for a bot operator who'd be willing to work here, but haven't gotten anyone yet; I've got a couple other places I can ask at though. 「ディノ奴千？！」? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:09, April 3, 2015 (UTC)
