In other words, is a card affected by a non continuous effect that took place before that card gained immunity to that kind of effect?

If a chain like forbidden lance (1)->Lost Wind on the target of Forbidden Lance(2) what happens? Is the target affected by that Lost Wind?

Chains resolve backwards so the last card activated becomes 1st to resolve.--MasterMarik (talkcontribs) 20:00, August 25, 2018 (UTC)

You've missed the question.

In that case the problem arises BECAUSE the chain solves backwards.

Lost Wind resolves. The monster's effect is negated and its original attack is halved.

Forbidden Lance resolves. The monster is now immune to spells/traps and its attack is reduced by 800 until the end of the turn.

But there's a problem: Lost Wind is a trap so it's technically immune to it. Now two scenarios are possible:

1) Forbidden Lance isn't retroactive. So the monster is immune to spells and traps that resolved after Forbidden Lance. This means that the monster's effect is negated, it's original attack is halved and its attack is decreased by 800.

2) Forbidden Lance is retroactive. So the monster is immune also to spells and traps that resolved before Forbidden Lance. This means that the monster won't be affected by that Lost Wind until the end of the turn.

Which happens?

Lance resolves 1st, draining the target of 800 ATK/DEF and making it immune to Spells/Traps. Lost wind will have to pick a different monster. --MasterMarik (talkcontribs) 20:17, August 25, 2018 (UTC)
