An Equip Spell Card, known as an Equipment Magic Card (装備(そうび)魔法(まほう) Sōbi Mahō) in the OCG, is a Spell Card that often (but there are exceptions) modifies the ATK and/or DEF of a Monster Card on the field and/or grants additional effects. Equip Spell Cards are universally referred to simply as Equip Cards, since Equip Cards can either be Equip Spell Cards or Trap Cards that are treated as Equip Cards after activation. When you activate an Equip Spell Card you must choose a face-up monster on the field to equip the card to and that Equip Spell Card's effect applies to that monster until the card is destroyed, removed from the field, or flipped face-down, at which point the Equip Spell Card is destroyed. Many Equip Spell Cards are representations of weapons or armor.

• An example of an ATK-boosting Equip Spell Card is "Axe of Despair".
• An example of a DEF-boosting Equip Spell Card is "Horn of Light".
• Examples of Equip Spell Cards with unusual effects are "Premature Burial", "Amplifier", "Re-Fusion", "Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce" and "Snatch Steal".
• An example of an Equip Spell Card that both boosts ATK and grants the monster an additional effect is "Big Bang Shot".
• Examples of Equip Spell Cards with a negative effect are "Mask of Brutality" and "Darkworld Shackles". These cards are usually equipped to opponent's monsters.

Cards that support Equip Spell Cards include "Release Restraint Wave", "Fairy of the Spring", "Hidden Armory", "Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu", and "Power Tool Dragon".
