Card effect

A card effect is any effect in the game introduced by a specific card, excluding the condition and cost of that card.

It is written below the Type of Monster (or below the artwork in case of Spell and Trap Cards) and special abilities are written here. Normal Monsters have only a short description about the card, and have no effect on gameplay.

Nearly every area of the Duel is capable of being handicapped (or boosted) by a card effect. The primary focus of card abilities is usually the field, such as with cards like "Level Limit - Area B". The hand is also a focus for effects, "Infinite Cards" and "Spirit Reaper" both counting.

TriviaEdit

  • In the Japanese anime, card effects are often called "special abilities" (tokushū nōryoku). In the manga, they are referred to as both "effects" and "special abilities"; they are also very rarely referred to as "powers".
