• Suijin (水神) is the Shinto god of Water in Japan.
  • The kanji (hanzi also) on Suijin's forehead is "Water" or 水.
  • "Suijinheki" is Japanese for "Water Barrier", a possible reference to this card's effect.
  • Suijin has two designs: one, used in various video games and on the card itself, depicts it as a disembodied head and spindly arms covered by a purple cloak, the other, used in the anime and on Gate Guardian, shows a pair of monstrous blue legs and pelvis with its head placed on the crotch area.
