  • In Persian mythology, the Simurgh was a great bird that had seen the destruction of the world three times over. It was associated with healing and fertility.
    • The Simurgh was considered to be a giant bird, with head of a dog and claws of lion; in persian mythology it was thought to be a representation of divinity. In western culture it was called a Roc and thought to be a monster.
