Normally, this card is tedious to summon. If you try to summon it from the Graveyard, you will need to Tribute one of your Dragons first. However, this trait is not much of an issue in a Graveyard Dragon Power Deck, as you will be keeping the amount of Dragons in your Graveyard consistent.
The Hieratic Archetype can benefit from this card's effect of tributing a Dragon-Type.
You can Special Summon this card from your hand with the effect of "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" or "King Dragun". This way you don't have to sacrifice a dragon or pay 2 monsters for its Tribute Summon.
"Troop Dragon" special summons another Troop Dragon when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can use that Troop Dragon as a Tribute to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from your Graveyard.
"Masked Dragon" special summons a Dragon-Type Monster with an attack of 1500 or less when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can Tribute that monster to Special Summon "Tyrant Dragon" from your Graveyard.
"Totem Dragon" can be used to normal summon this card very easily since it treats itself as two tributes for any Dragon Type Monster. Use "Masked Dragon" to summon "Totem Dragon" to make it even easier.
Since this card is hard to Normal Summon or Special Summon from the Graveyard, another easy way to Summon it is from the top of your deck by using the effect of "Monster Gate", "Reasoning" or "Destiny HERO - Dasher".
Since the biggest threat to "Tyrant Dragon" is being destroyed in battle by monsters with higher ATK, such as "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", you should equip it with spells such as "Black Pendant" or "Salamandra". Or, better yet, you could use "Rush Recklessly" or "Ego Boost" to increase the ATK of "Tyrant Dragon" when your opponent's monster attacks it.
Tribute "Hardened Armed Dragon" when you Tribute Summon this card to ensure that no card effects can destroy it.
This card can be useful against "Number 39: Utopia". If you attack "Utopia" your opponent will (if they have no Quick-Play Spells that can counter the attack) have to detach a XYZ material to protect "Utopia" or any other monster they control, you can then use "Tyrant Dragon's" effect to attack again and force your opponent to detach another XYZ material leaving "Utopia" completely vulnerable due to its side effect of having no materials.
