- You can Special Summon this card from your hand with the effect of Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon or King Dragun. This way you don't have to sacrifice a dragon or pay 2 monsters for its Tribute Summon.
- This card can be Tribute Summoned with one Tribute using "Flame Ruler".
- Cards like Cost Down and Level Conversion Lab can decrease the amount of hassle needed to bring out this monster.
- Tyrant Dragon is one of the strongest monsters in the game. His effect protects him from cards like Sakuretsu Armor, Magic Cylinder or Trap Hole and allows you to get rid of two of your opponent's monsters in a turn. Unfortunately, he is hard to summon as a Normal Summon would require two Tributes and Special Summoning him from the Graveyard would require you to Tribute a Dragon-Type monster on your side of the field.
- Troop Dragon special summons another Troop Dragon when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can use that Troop Dragon as a Tribute to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from your Graveyard.
- Masked Dragon special summons a Dragon Type Monster with an attack of 1500 or less when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can Tribute that monster to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from your Graveyard.
- D. Tribe transforms all monsters into Dragon Type Monsters until the end of the turn, making easier to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from the Graveyard. Or use DNA Surgery.
- Decoy Dragon is an excellent option to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from the Graveyard. By using his effect, you can revive Tyrant Dragon then Tribute Decoy Dragon for Tyrant's effect. Also the attack will be redirected to Tyrant Dragon and will allow you to decrease your opponent's Life Points and destroy the attacking monster.
- Totem Dragon can be used to normal summon this card very easily since it treats itself as two tributes for any Dragon Type Monster.
- Since this card is hard to Normal Summon or Special Summon from the Graveyard, another easy way to Summon it is from the top of your deck by using the effect of Monster Gate, Reasoning or Destiny Hero - Dasher.
- Use Tyrant Dragon for Dragon's Mirror to play Five-Headed Dragon, then use D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation to bring him back without tributing a dragon for his effect.
- Use Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai with this card to deal 2900 damage. You can do this since Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai doesn't target; it uses the tributed monster to pay a cost.
