Card Tips A-Z

  • You can negate this card's "Tribute a Dragon" effect while it's in the Graveyard by activating "The Shallow Grave". Any monster while Face-Down Defense Position has its effect negated, and 2500 DEF is still pretty high for your opponent to destroy.
  • Troop Dragon special summons another Troop Dragon when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can use that Troop Dragon as a Tribute to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from your Graveyard.
  • Masked Dragon special summons a Dragon Type Monster with an attack of 1500 or less when it is destroyed as a result of as battle. You can Tribute that monster to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from your Graveyard.
  • Decoy Dragon is an excellent option to Special Summon Tyrant Dragon from the Graveyard. By using his effect, you can revive Tyrant Dragon then Tribute Decoy Dragon for Tyrant's effect. Also the attack will be redirected to Tyrant Dragon and will allow you to decrease your opponent's Life Points and destroy the attacking monster.
  • Totem Dragon can be used to normal summon this card very easily since it treats itself as two tributes for any Dragon Type Monster.
  • Since this card is hard to Normal Summon or Special Summon from the Graveyard, another easy way to Summon it is from the top of your deck by using the effect of Monster Gate, Reasoning or Destiny Hero - Dasher.
  • Since the biggest threat to Tyrant Dragon is being destroyed in battle by monsters with higher ATK, such as Blue-Eyes White Dragon, you should equip it with spells such as Black Pendant or Salamandra. Or, better yet, you could use Rush Recklessly to increase the ATK of Tyrant Dragon when your opponent's monster attacks it.
