• This card can be searched by "Serpentine Princess", "Vampire Dragon" and "Mystic Tomato".

• "Mask of Darkness" is at times avoided because a number of commonly played Traps require your opponent to trigger them. This means your opponent can usually avoid the worst result of these cards. But "Mask of Darkness" is useful if you're running Traps that don't require your opponent to trigger them, such as "Conscription".

• On the other hand, you can use the fact that your opponent sees what Trap you recovered to your advantage. For example, you can retrieve "Mirror Force", and make your opponent afraid to attack thus stalling, (even if you set a card other than "Mirror Force").

• Many Decks need certain Trap cards as this card allows them to be reused.
  • "Pyramid of Light" for the Sphinx.
  • "Bad Reaction to Simochi" and "Gift Card" for a "Bad Reaction to Simochi" deck.
  • Frogs can reuse "Froggy Forcefield".
  • Destiny HEROES can reuse many cards such as "D - Counter" or "Eternal Dread".
  • Venom decks can reuse "Venom Burn", "Ambush Fangs", "Snake Deity's Command" and "Snake Whistle".
  • Counter Fairies can run rampant chosing any Counter Trap they prefer.
  • "Skill Drain" for deck of same name.
  • "Macro Cosmos" for deck of same name or "D.D. Dynamite", "Big Burn", etc.

• Mask of Darkness can be used to retrieve Traps that are Limited or Semi-Limited, such as "Torrential Tribute".

• Use this card with "Reckless Greed" to gain card advantage.

• This card can retrieve a Trap Monster from the graveyard, letting you summon it again.

• This card can be searched by "Sangan", "Last Will" and "Witch of the Black Forest".

• Flip "Mask of Darkness" to retrieve "Crush Card Virus" from the Graveyard, then use "Mask of Darkness" for "Crush Card Virus's" Tribute requirement.
