- When "Light and Darkness Dragon" is destroyed, use its effect to Special Summon "Destiny Hero - Disk Commander" to draw 2 cards, or Felgrand Dragon to gain it's effect.
- Use cards like "Giant Germ", "Nimble Momonga", and "Gravekeeper's Spy" to help keep enough field presence in order to summon "Light and Darkness Dragon", or Kaiser Sea Horse to Tribute Summon Light and Darkness Dragon for one tribute.
- When trying to get rid of your opponent's "Light and Darkness Dragon", use easily-chainable cards like "Enemy Controller" to exploit his once-per-chain effect, while depleting as few resources as possible.
- You can use "Mausoleum of the Emperor" to get this card out quickly with no Tributes
- Use "Forced Back" against your opponent's Light and Darkness Dragon to send it back to your opponent's hand and make them waste 2 tributes.
- To easily destroy your opponent's "Light and Darkness Dragon", summon "Doomcaliber Knight" and activate any monster effect. That will activate "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s effect. In result, "Doomcaliber Knight" will activate as the third chain, negating "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s effect and destroying it in the process. You can also use the effect of "Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress" mupltiple times, because if you negate its effect, "Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress" won't turn into defense position, so you'll be able to activate its effect another time, until the ATK/DEF of "Light and Darkness Dragon" becomes 800/400.
- A good way to lower "Light and Darkness Dragon"'s ATK fast is by having "Treeborn Frog" in your Graveyard. When it comes to your Standby Phase, you can keep activating its effect indefinitely. Eventually, it will Special Summon, and your opponent will have a weak "Light and Darkness Dragon".This method also applies to Samsara Lotus, when it activates during your End Phase.
- A good way to get rid of it is to first use some card like "Lightning Vortex" then when it tries to use its effect to negate it use "Divine Wrath" since its effect cannot negate chains.
- An easy way to lower the ATK of this card is to summon only 1 Spirit monster,because of their effect of returning to their owner's hand.It will activate again and again until Light and Darkness Dragon has an extremely low ATK.
- Another easy way to lower the ATK of this card is to summon a Lightsworn monster. The effect of discarding cards from the top of the deck will continuously activate during the End Phase until Light and Darkness Dragon does not have enough ATK points left to negate anything.
- Before summoning this card, activate Reverse Trap. That way you can give it a power boost instead of weakening it during the first turn.
- You can constantly resummon Light and Darkness Dragon by using Herald of Creation and Treeborn Frog. When Light and Darkness Dragon is destroyed, use his effect to special summon Herald of Creation and then use Herald of Creation's effect to bring Light and Darkness Dragon back to your hand. After that, it's just a matter of normal summoning it again by bringing out Treeborn to fulfill the two monsters requirement.
- Flipping "Light and Darkness Dragon" face-down with "Book of Moon" will reset its ATK points.
