• As a fairly powerful DARK-attribute Monster with no summoning restrictions, "Darklord Zerato" is a useful addition to a Dark Armed Return. You can use it as the cost for a variety of cards and revive it easily from the Graveyard or RFG pile while using its effect numerous times.

• This card can be Tribute Summoned with one Tribute using "Double Coston".

• This card's self-destruct effect can be avoided by using cards like "Book of Moon" or "Skill Drain".

• In Traditional Format, use "Painful Choice" to quickly load the graveyard with 4 differently named DARK monsters. Special Summon "Evil Hero Infernal Prodigy" then Tribute Summon "Darklord Zerato".

• This card can be Special Summoned by the effects of Il Blud or Mezuki while Zombie World is on the field, to easily Special Summon this card for an OTK.

• You can use this card as the discard for "Trade-In".

• This is a fairly difficult but powerful combo to execute, simply use "Dark Grepher" or Foolish Burial to send "Darklord Zerato" to the Graveyard and use cards like "Strike Ninja" to remove it from play, afterwards, use cards like D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation to Special Summon it on the field.

• You can use this card in a combo with "Athena", so after using its effect you can send it to the Graveyard to Special Summon a monster from the Graveyard

• Surprise your opponent by chaining an Enemy Controller to their Darklord Zerato's effect. You'll steal his monster and then its effect will resolve, destroying your opponent's monsters instead.

• A faster way to summon him is by using Allure of Darkness to remove Darklord Zerato from play, then special summoning him with Escape from the Dark Dimension.

• This card works great with Phantom of Chaos. Removing him with Phantom of Chaos to use his effects and clear your opponents field. You can then bring him back with D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation or Escape from the Dark Dimension and go for another direct attack.

• This is more easily summoned with Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen.

• Use this card along with Dark Creator to constantly reuse his effect, using the discarded cards for Dark Creator's effect.

• Use Dimensionhole to negate the self-destruct of this card.

• Summon Phantom of Chaos and remove Darklord Zerato already in the Graveyard from play. Phantom of Chaos gains the effect of Darklord Zerato and you can use it to destroy your opponent's monsters. Also, because Darklord Zerato is now removed from play, you can Special Summon him with cards like D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation and Escape from the Dark Dimension. This combo works equally well with cards like Dark Armed Dragon.

• Use Eradicator Epidemic Virus after using this card's effect and attacking with the card so that your opponent can't use spells or traps (whatever you choose to block).
