- The best time to play this card is at the beginning of your turn, giving yourself time to Normal Summon a monster while your opponent has none.
- Useful in Pendulum-Based Deck.
- Use this card while your opponent has more monsters than yourself. This is particularly useful against "Blackwing", "X-Saber" and "Morphtronic" Decks.
- Use "Dimensionhole", "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Forgotten Temple of the Deep" to Banish one monster under your control, so it won't be destroyed by this card's effect.
- This card can be activated while your "Crystal Beast" monsters are in your Spell & Trap Zone quickly for the Special Summon of "Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder" while also leaving your opponent open for a direct attack. This is also useful as many of the "Crystal Beast" support cards require them to be in the Spell and Trap Zones.
- "Megamorph" can also be used while your opponent's Life Points are higher than yours for an OTK.
- If there is a copy of "Oyster Meister" on your field when this card is used, your defense won't be left open due to the effect of "Oyster Meister" that lets yourself Special Summon 1 "Oyster Token" when it is sent from the field to the Graveyard.
- If there is only "Ice Barrier" monsters on your field, including "Dai-Sojo of the Ice Barrier", use this card to only destroy your opponent's monsters, as "Dai-Sojo" will prevent your monsters from being destroyed by this card.
- This card can be used to destroy "Yubel" or "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" to bring out the next form.
- If monsters such as "Gigantes" or "Aqua Spirit" which require monsters to be banished from your Graveyard to Special Summon, using "Dark Hole" to clear the field provides a decent opportunity to bring these monsters out, as they can then go for a direct attack or even be used as part of a Tribute Summon or Synchro Summon.
- "Sand Moth" can be Set, then play this card to activate its effect return to the field with its original ATK and DEF switched.
- If "Fortune Lady Light" is the only monster under your control, since your opponent will lose all of their monsters, another "Fortune Lady" from your Deck will get to be Special Summoned.
- With a "Black Brutdrago" on your field and a "Chthonian Emperor Dragon" in your Graveyard, this card can be used, then revive "Chthonian Emperor Dragon" with the effect of "Black Brutdrago", then attack directly twice for 4800.
- Alternatively any Gemini monster with high ATK or a useful effect can be revived, such as "Phoenix Gearfried".
- If there is no Normal Summoned yet in this situation, a "Tuned Magician" can be revived and Summon a non-Tuner for two attacks and/or a Synchro Summon.
- This card can be activated, and negate it with "Starlight Road" to Special Summon "Stardust Dragon" easily.
- If a Battlin' Boxer Deck is played, a "Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke" can be Summoned, and then activate this card. All monsters on the field beside "Lead Yoke" will be destroyed while "Lead Yoke" can use an Xyz Material instead and gain ATK.
- Combo with "Kickfire" to give "Kickfire" up to 5 Counters to deal 5000 damage next turn by destroying your FIRE monsters. Deal additional damage if 1 or more copies of "Backfire" is added.
- Use this card while you have "Lemuria, the Forgotten City", "Umi" or "A Legendary Ocean" while there is "The Legendary Fisherman" and/or "Deepsea Warrior" since they will immune to Spells when "Umi" is on the field, and the other two Field Spells have their names treated as such.
- "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6" is another good card as it is always immune to Spells.
- Use this card with "Non-Spellcasting Area" while there are Normal Monsters on the field, so that they won't be destroyed, which could possibly result in an OTK.
