Mentions in Other Rulings
- Clear Vice Dragon: If this card attacks "The Wicked Avatar", its ATK will become double that of "The Wicked Avatar" then "The Wicked Avatar" would become this card's ATK plus 100. No further change will occur.
OCG Rulings
On Determining its ATK/DEF
- If a Field Spell Card would affect "The Wicked Avatar"'s ATK/DEF, then "The Wicked Avatar"'s effect overrides the change. "The Wicked Avatar"'s effect always determines its ATK/DEF.[1]
- If multiple copies of "The Wicked Avatar" are on the field, their ATKs become 100 + the ATK of the highest monster on the field which is not named "The Wicked Avatar".[2]
- If "The Wicked Avatar" is the only monster on the field, its ATK is 100.[3]
Versus Specific Cards
- Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind: If "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" and "The Wicked Avatar" are on the field, then "The Wicked Avatar" will have 1400 ATK. If the effect of "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind" is activated, then "The Wicked Avatar" will have 700 ATK, but the effect of "The Wicked Avatar" will immediately make its ATK 1400.[4]
- Clear Vice Dragon: When "Clear Vice Dragon" attacks "The Wicked Avatar", the ATK of "Clear Vice Dragon" will become twice the ATK of "The Wicked Avatar", but then the ATK of "The Wicked Avatar" will become the ATK of "Clear Vice Dragon" + 100.[5]
- Cyber Shadow Gardna: If "Cyber Shadow Gardna" battles with "The Wicked Avatar", "Cyber Shadow Gardna"'s ATK becomes the same as "The Wicked Avatar", then "The Wicked Avatar"'s effect is applied and its ATK becomes "Cyber Shadow Gardna"'s +100. "Cyber Shadow Gardna"'s ATK does not change again.[6]
- Hero Mask: If you use "Hero Mask" to change the name of "The Wicked Avatar" to that of an "Elemental Hero" monster, then "The Wicked Avatar" does not consider itself when determining its ATK, so its ATK becomes 100 + that of the other monster on the field with the highest ATK.[7]
- Shrink: "Shrink" will reduce "The Wicked Avatar" to 0 ATK, but then "The Wicked Avatar"'s effect will immediately override "Shrink" and adjust "The Wicked Avatar"'s ATK to the strongest monster on the field +100.[8]
- The Wicked Dreadroot: When "The Wicked Dreadroot" and "The Wicked Avatar" are both on the field, whichever monster was Summoned last has its effect applied. If "The Wicked Avatar" is Summoned after "The Wicked Dreadroot", "The Wicked Avatar"'s ATK/DEF are not halved. If "The Wicked Dreadroot" is Summoned after "The Wicked Avatar", "The Wicked Avatar"'s ATK/DEF are halved.[9]
On Preventing Spell/Trap Card Activations
- When this card is Tribute Summoned, its effect begins a chain. You can chain "Bottomless Trap Hole" or "Torrential Tribute" to this effect.[10]
On Summoning
- "The Wicked Avatar" cannot be Normal Summoned or Set, except with a Tribute Summon with 3 monsters. "Mausoleum of the Emperor" cannot be used to Normal Summon this card.[11]
- You can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing "Double Coston" and one other monster.[12]
Miscellaneous
- Sangan: "Sangan" cannot add "The Wicked Avatar" to your hand, since "?" is not a definite number.[13]
Previously Official Rulings
| These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[15] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If "The Wicked Avatar" is the only face-up monster on the field, its ATK and DEF are 100.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Metalmorph: When you [sic] monster that is equipped with "Metalmorph" attacks your opponent's "The Wicked Avatar", first you will apply the additional gained ATK based on the current ATK of "The Wicked Avatar", and then if your equipped monster becomes the monster with the highest ATK on the field, the ATK of "The Wicked Avatar" will be recalculated.
- Example: Player A has "Cannon Soldier" equipped with "Metalmorph" (1400 + 300 = 1700 ATK). "Cannon Soldier" is the monster with the highest ATK on the field, so "The Wicked Avatar" has 1800 ATK (1700 + 100 = 1800 ATK). When "Cannon Soldier" attacks "The Wicked Avatar", the additional ATK is applied, giving "Cannon Soldier" a total of 2600 ATK (1800/2 + 1700 = 2600). "The Wicked Avatar's" ATK is then recalculated to 2700 (2600 + 100 = 2700) and damage is calculated. Player A's "Cannon Soldier" is destroyed and Player A takes 100 points of Battle Damage.
Judge List Rulings
- "The Wicked Avatar" will adjust its ATK and DEF according to the highest ATK on the field, whenever necessary. This is a Continuous Effect.[14]
