• Detaching an Xyz Material is an activation cost.^[1]

• You cannot activate the effect during the Damage Step.^[1]

• You can activate the effect of "Shining Elf" when your opponent Normal/Special Summons a monster with less than 500 ATK.^[2]

• When your opponent Special Summons "Lava Golem" to your side of the field, it is still treated as your opponent Special Summoning a monster, so you can activate the effect of "Shining Elf".^[3]

• You cannot activate the effect of "Shining Elf" when your opponent Normal/Special Summons to the field a monster with 0 ATK.^[4]

• If your opponent Normal/Special Summons monsters multiple times during the same turn, then each time you can detach one Xyz Material to activate the effect of "Shining Elf".^[5]

• You can activate the effect of "Shining Elf" when multiple monsters are Special Summoned simultaneously, such as by "Return from the Different Dimension". If you do, then each monster loses 500 ATK.^[6]
