OCG Rulings
- When a monster is sent to the Graveyard for a Synchro Summon, the monster is not treated as being "Tributed". Thus, if gain control of a monster by "Mind Control", then you can send it to the Graveyard as a Synchro Material Monster even though you cannot Tribute the monster.[1]
- Suppose that you use "Mind Control" to gain control of your opponent's face-down "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6". If "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6" is flipped face-up, then control of it returns to the opponent, and it may now be Tributed.[2]
Previously Official Rulings
| These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - The effect of "Mind Control" that prevents the targeted monster from attacking or being Tributed lasts until the End Phase of the turn "Mind Control" was activated, even if the monster is flipped face-down before the End Phase. If the monster targeted with this card is flipped face-down, it will still return to the original owner's side of the field during the End Phase.
- If you take control of your opponent's monster with "Mind Control", you can use it as a Synchro Material Monster for a Synchro Summon.
