TCG Rulings[]

  • This effect targets 1 face-up monster your opponent controls.[1]
  • If either “Jester Confit” or the target of its effect is not face-up on the field when the effect resolves, it is not applied.[1]
  • The effect of “Jester Confit” activates even if your opponent has no face-up monsters on the field during the End Phase. In this case, nothing will happen when the effect resolves.[1]

OCG Rulings[]

  • The effect of "Jester Confit" to return itself and an opponent's monster to the hand targets one monster your opponent controls.[2]
  • During the End Phase of the opponent's turn after "Jester Confit" was Special Summoned, if your opponent does not control a monster, then the effect of "Jester Confit" still activates and starts a Chain. However, you cannot select an opponent's monster to return to the hand, so "Jester Confit" does not return to the hand either.[3]
  • When control of "Jester Confit" changes after it is Special Summoned, the Player that Special Summoned "Jester Confit" did not change, so the effect of "Jester Confit" still activates and starts a Chain during that player's opponent's next End Phase.[4]
    • Example: If you Special Summon "Jester Confit" and control of it changes to your opponent, then the effect of "Jester Confit" activates during your opponent's next End Phase.[4]
  • If an effect is chained to the effect of "Jester Confit" so that "Jester Confit" is not face-up on the field when resolving its effect, then the opponent's monster is not returned to the hand.[5]
