OCG Rulings
- This effect targets the 1 monster that was Tribute Summoned by Tributing 1 monster.[1]
- "Intercept" is a Counter Trap Card that can be activated when a monster is Tribute Summoned by only Tributing 1 monster. If "Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter" is Tribute Summoned normally by Tributing an "Embodiment of Apophis" treated as a monster, the opponent can activate "Intercept".[2]
- "Intercept" is a Counter Trap Card that can be activated when a monster is Tribute Summoned by only Tributing 1 monster. If "Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior" is Tribute Summoned by Tributing a Continuous Spell/Trap Card instead of a monster, since no monster was Tributed, the opponent cannot activate "Intercept".[3]
- "Intercept" is a Counter Trap Card that can be activated when a monster is Tribute Summoned by only Tributing 1 monster. If the player Tribute Summons "Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant" by Tributing 1 monster and 2 Continuous Spell Cards, although 1 monster was Tributed, the Tribute Summon was performed by Tributing 2 Continuous Spell Cards as well. In this case, the opponent cannot activate "Intercept".[4]
- When "Raiza the Storm Monarch" etc. is successfully Tribute Summoned, first the effect of "Raiza the Storm Monarch" is activated and targets a card to return to the Deck. After that, if "Intercept" was activated in Chain to the activation of the effect of "Raiza the Storm Monarch" etc., due to resolving in the opposite order, first control of "Raiza the Storm Monarch" is changed, but even though control changed, because the target is not chosen again, the card that was targeted by the owner that performed the Tribute Summon is returned to the Deck.[5]
- Even if a Level 7 or higher monster, such as "Majestic Mech - Goryu", is Tribute Summoned by Tributing 1 monster, "Intercept" can be activated. Consequently, for example, when "Majestic Mech - Goryu" or "Evil HERO Malicious Edge" is Tribute Summoned by Tributing 1 monster, "Intercept" can be activated and take control of that monster.[6]
- "Intercept" is a Counter Trap Card that can be activated when a monster is Tribute Summoned by only Tributing 1 monster. Consequently, for example, if "Majestic Mech - Ohka" is Tribute Summoned without Tributing, "Intercept" cannot be activated.[7]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[8] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If the Tribute Summoned monster has an effect that activates when it is Tribute Summoned, the player that Tribute Summoned the monster activates its effect. "Intercept" is chained to the monster's effect.
- "Intercept" cannot be activated when "Jinzo" is Tribute Summoned, because "Jinzo's" effect is already applied and prevents Trap Cards from being activated.
