• In the Virtual Realm arc, Total Defense Shogun was used by the Big Five to explain to Yugi and his gang how the Deck Master system works. In this example, Total Defense Shogun's Deck Master Ability allowed it to destroy a monster attacking him. When simulated Seto Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attack this monster directly (this card counted as the duelist and the Deck Master), this monster activated its Deck Master ability, paying 1000 Life Points to destroy the monster it's battling. This caused "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to be destroyed, and since the "Ultimate Dragon" was the Deck Master, the simulated Kaiba loses the duel.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Edit

• In the third season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, this monster appears as a warrior named "Burgundy" intent on protecting his village from the Dark World Army.
