  • In episode 106, this card is shown in Jesse Anderson's hand during his duel against Jaden Yuki. On the second turn of the Duel, Jaden activates the effect of "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" to look at Jesse's hand. He then selects this card. Since Jaden controls "Aqua Dolphin", this card is destroyed and Jesse takes 500 damage. In the next episode, Jesse activates the effect of "Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus" to take this card from his Graveyard and place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. Jesse then activates this card's first effect to Special Summon itself to the Monster Card Zone. Jesse then activates this card's second effect to Special Summon "Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle", "Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat", and "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth" from his Spell & Trap Card Zone. After "Sapphire Pegasus", "Amethyst Cat" , "Cobalt Eagle" and "Amber Mammoth" had all attacked, this card attacks directly. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
  • In episode 116, Jesse uses this card during his duel against Trapper. He places this card in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via the effect of "Sapphire Pegasus". Jesse then activates "Take Flight" to return this card, "Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise", "Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger", "Amethyst Cat", and "Amber Mammoth" to his hand. Jesse then activates "GEM Burst" to place all Crystal Beasts in his hand into his Spell & Trap Card Zone as Continuous Spell Cards and inflict 500 damage to Trapper for each Crystal Beast placed into Jesse's Spell & Trap Card Zone. Since five Crystal Beasts were placed into Jesse's Spell & Trap Card Zone this way, Trapper takes 2500 damage and this wins Jesse the duel.
    • This card also appears in a flashback Jesse has when he remembers obtaining the Crystal Beasts from Maximillion Pegasus. Pegasus claims to Jesse that the Crystal Beasts chose him to be their wielder as he could connect his heart to Duel Monster Spirits.
  • In episode 125, Jesse uses this card during his duel against Emotionless Mask. He places this card into his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via the effect of "Sapphire Pegasus". Emotionless Mask then banishes "Silent Space" from his hand in order to destroy "Sapphire Pegasus". Jesse then Special Summons this card from the Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Monster Card Zone through its first effect. Jesse then activates this card's second effect to Special Summon all Crystal Beasts from his Spell & Trap Card Zone. Emotionless Mask then activates "Silent Space" from his hand, but Jesse activates the third effect of "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" to negate "Silent Space" and destroy it by sending "Topaz Tiger" from the Spell & Trap Card Zone to the Graveyard. "Sapphire Pegasus" and "Amber Mammoth" are then Special Summoned from the Spell & Trap Card Zone. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
  • In episode 130, Jesse uses this card during his Tag Duel with Jaden against Marcel Bonaparte while the latter was possessed by Yubel. He places this card in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card via the effect of "Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus". Jesse then activates "Rare Value" to send this card to the Graveyard and draw two cards.
  • In episode 176, during Jesse's Triangle Duel against Jaden and Yusuke Fujiwara, Jesse discards this card from his hand via the WATER effect of "Clear World". Later Jesse banishes this card, "Emerald Tortoise", "Sapphire Pegasus", and "Topaz Tiger" from his Graveyard in order to activate the second effect of "Rainbow Dragon".
  • Jesse is the closest with this monster as it is his duel monster spirit and lovingly nicknames her "Ruby".
  • Unlike the other Crystal Beasts, Ruby Carbuncle doesn't speak (in either version). She meows "Ruby" in a cute voice in both versions (similar to how Jaden's "Winged Kuriboh" simply calls out in a cute growling fashion).
  • In the dub, this card's ability is called "Ruby Rampage". In Japanese, its attack name is called "Ruby Flash" and its effect name is called "Ruby Happiness".
  • In the anime, Ruby's effect could be used if it was Special Summoned to the Spell/Trap Zone.
