The Burning Skulls are a family of Zombie-Type Monsters used by Hunter Pace in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers Promotional Cards contains a number of cards from this Archetype.

[edit] Play Style

A "Burning Skull" Deck features the combination of Swarm and Burn tactics to any Duel when used right. The most obvious of combos available to this Deck is the tag-effect of "Burning Skull Head" and "Skull Flame" (the later can Special Summon the first while the first inflicts Burn damage to the opponent.) This can lead up to the coming Special Summon of the Archetype's trump monster, "Supersonic Skull Flame". Zombie and FIRE support cards including "UFO Turtle", "Zombie Master", "Ultimate Baseball Kid" and "Flame Spirit Ignis" work in conjunction with this Archetype.

[edit] Weaknesses

Though this Archetype can be effective against your opponent in any Duel, it can be however halted by Anti-Swarm and Burn Decks that feature Prime Material Dragon or the Anti-Special Summon Thunder King Rai-Oh as a key card. Also, Decks built around removing cards from play, like Dimensional Fissure and Banisher of the Radiance can be a problem if they remove needed cards from play. A good counter to this can in the form of D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation and Imperial Iron Wall (though the later can be a problem for Summoning "Supersonic Skull Flame" during the Duel).

The design for the Burning Skull monsters can be found either in the Marvel Comic hero Ghost Rider and the archetypal skull-and-fire symbol used by several motorcycle gangs.
