This deck is considered a Classic Deck, this page is used to tell the history of a deck rather than how it is played now. This can happen either from mechanics of the game changing, changes from the "TCG" or "OCG" Forbidden/Limited List, or the deck has slowly lost it's ability to be played over time due to years of no support or neglect.
The Athena OTK is achieved by the effect of "Honest" and "Athena", while you have "Ultimate Offering" on your side of the field. While you will pay 500 Life Points each time you summon "Honest", your opponent will take 600 points of damage, so by doing it 14 times, your opponent will have lost 8400 points of damage, while you have lost only 7000.
It is advisable to do this OTK only when both players' Life Points are at 8000, or when your Life Points are reasonably higher than your opponents (for example, your opponent has 3400, and you have 4000). Some of the cards that might be useful are "Mysterious Puppeteer" or "Spring of Rebirth", which take out the damage from "Ultimate Offering", and "A Cat of Ill Omen", which helps bring "Ultimate Offering" closer to your side of the field. You could also use "Dark Room of Nightmare" to bring your opponent's Life Points down faster. "Hecatrice" and "Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen" are also helpful.
This combo makes use of many LIGHT monsters, such as Lightsworn, since they work well with Fairies. They fit well with "Athena" and "Honest" as a support, making this Deck very consistent. In Traditional Format, it is possible to turn this into an FTK by including "Temple of the Kings".
This OTK is not currently possible in Advanced Format because "Ultimate Offering" is Forbidden.

Other variations[]
"Athena" can cause an OTK in other ways:
- "Colossal Fighter": This card can keep reviving itself after being destroyed by battle; his Type while on the field has no relevance to his effect when destroyed by battle. Therefore, while "DNA Surgery" (choosing Fairy) and "Athena" are on the field, crashing "Colossal Fighter" against a stronger monster 14 times will win you the duel. Because of "Colossal Fighter's" high base ATK, as well as his ATK-gain effect, aim to Synchro Summon him without using Warrior monsters as material, and supply the monster for "Colossal Fighter" to crash into, such as "Lava Golem" or a "Kaiju".
- Monsters that Special Summon from the Deck: As with strategies involving "The Bistro Butcher" or "Witch Doctor of Sparta", crash three each of the following monsters in order while you have "DNA Surgery" active turning all monsters into Fairy-Type: "Nova Summoner", "Shining Angel", "UFOroid", "UFO Turtle", "Masked Dragon" and "Troop Dragon". Crashing 14 out of the 18 monsters involved is enough to win you the duel. Have "The Sanctuary in the Sky" or "Spirit Barrier" ready in case you would take more damage than you inflict.
- Alternatively, swap out "DNA Surgery" for "Witch Doctor of Sparta" and have "Localized Tornado" ready to activate after you've crashed 5 of the six total copies of "Nova Summoner" and "Shining Angel". "Athena" and "Witch Doctor of Sparta" together would burn your opponent for 1100 damage for each Fairy summoned, thus only needing eight total summons to win the duel.
- If you are able to bring three "Athena" onto your field via "Celestial Transformation" and "Inferno Reckless Summon", you will not need "Witch Doctor of Sparta" or "Localized Tornado" either, since one summon of a Fairy will inflict 600 damage per copy of "Athena" you control, thus requiring only one of "Nova Summoner" or "Shining Angel" to then Normal Summon as long as the other five are all in your Deck, in order to OTK.
- "Darklord Superbia": This card summons a Fairy (other than "Darklord Superbia") from your Graveyard when Special Summoned from your Graveyard, and is also not once per turn, thereby resulting in a loop when combined with "Athena" and any other monster that can Tribute 1 monster you control more than once per turn ("Cannon Soldier", "The Little Swordsman of Aile", etc.), referred to as the "Tributing monster":
- The starting board state requires 1 "Athena" (1) and 1 "Tributing monster" on your field, 1 "Athena" (2) in your Graveyard and 1 "Darklord Superbia" either on your field or in your Graveyard (if in your Graveyard, you will need another Fairy on your field not named "Athena"). "Foolish Burial" and "Darklord Asmodeus" can help achieve this board state.
- Use the effect of "Athena" (1) to send "Darklord Superbia", or your other Fairy, to the Graveyard and Special Summon "Darklord Superbia" from your Graveyard. "Darklord Superbia's" effect activates, Special Summoning "Athena" (2) from your Graveyard. This activates "Athena" (1) twice, inflicting 1200 damage.
- Use the effect of "Tributing monster" to Tribute "Athena" (1). Whether or not this effect inflicts damage is irrelevant.
- Use the effect of "Athena" (2) to send "Darklord Superbia" to the Graveyard and Special Summon "Darklord Superbia" from your Graveyard. "Darklord Superbia's" effect activates, Special Summoning "Athena" (1) from your Graveyard. This activates "Athena" (2) twice, inflicting 1200 damage.
- Use the effect of "Tributing monster" to Tribute "Athena" (2). Whether or not this effect inflicts damage is irrelevant.
- Repeat steps 2-5 until you win.
